Elander Moore, Indy Lewis, Jason Forbes Join ‘King & Conqueror’ Series as Filming Wraps in Iceland

As a hardcore history and gaming enthusiast, I’m absolutely thrilled about the latest cast additions to the “King & Conqueror” series! The prospect of Elander Moore (Kaos, Interview with the Vampire) joining James Norton (Harold), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (William), Emily Beecham (Edith Swan-neck), and Clémence Poésy (Matilda) in this period project about the Battle of Hastings is simply exhilarating. I’ve followed these talented actors’ careers for years, and their roles promise to add depth and complexity to an already star-studded cast.

Elander Moore, known for his roles in “Kaos” and “Interview with the Vampire,” and Jason Forbes, who has acted in “My Lady Jane” and “A Gentleman in Moscow,” have been added to the ensemble of “King & Conqueror,” a collaborative period production by BBC and CBS, focusing on the historic Battle of Hastings.

A distinguished cast, previously announced, now adds James Norton as Earl of Wessex (Harold), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Duke of Normandy (William), Emily Beecham as Edith Swan-neck (Harold’s wife), and Clemence Poésy as Matilda (William’s spouse).

With Iceland filming wrapped up for the series, new cast members have been announced: Indy Lewis (“Industry,” “La Fortuna”), Ines Asserson (“Royalteen,” “Skam”), and Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson (“Heartstone,” “Summerlight…And Then Comes The Night”). They join an already impressive roster that includes Eddie Marsan, Juliet Stevenson, Jean-Marc Barr, Luther Ford, Geoff Bell, Elliot Cowan, Bo Bragason, Bjarne Henriksen, Olivier Masucci, and Clare Holman.

In this production, Moore portrays Morcar, the Mercian Earl’s son and one-third of England’s power, as well as Mercia’s heir to the earldom. Lewis assumes the character of Margaret, a young woman from Mercia who needs to discover her strength in order to endure in a cruel world. Forbes embodies Thane Thomas, a devoted servant to the Godwins who fiercely safeguards their family. Asserson plays Judith, Matilda’s cousin and Baldwin’s niece, who is presented at various European marriage markets before encountering her match. Gunnarsson brings the fearsome warrior and renowned Viking leader Hardrada to life on stage. Ingvar Sigurdsson (known for his roles in “The Northman” and “Godland”) will now take on the role of Fitzosbern, who has been William’s protector since he was a boy.

Michael Robert Johnson, author of “Sherlock Holmes,” is involved in the production of the eight-episode series in multiple ways. Through his company Rabbit Track Pictures, he serves as an executive producer. actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau directs one episode and holds an executive producer role. Baltasar Kormákur, known for films like “Everest” and “2 Guns,” directs the first episode and acts as an executive producer, guiding the show’s creative direction. The Development Partnership, Rabbit Track, Shepherd Content, RVK Studios, CBS Studios, and the BBC collaborate on producing this series, with Johnson serving as its creator and executive producer.

“The saga of ‘King & Conqueror’ recounts the pivotal conflict that shaped the course of a nation and continental history for over a millennium. This struggle traces its origins back several decades, unfolding through the interconnected lineages of two powerful families as they vie for control in neighboring countries and battle each other across stormy seas. In 1066, Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy found themselves unwittingly drawn into a war over England’s throne. Initially allies with no intentions of seizing the crown, they were ultimately compelled by circumstances and personal ambition to engage in this historic battle.”

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that I’ll be able to watch the upcoming series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. The BBC has secured the broadcasting rights for this territory. For those of us living outside the UK, don’t worry – Paramount Global Content Distribution will handle the distribution of the series internationally. Let’s all look forward to an immersive gaming experience with this new series!
