Crash Bandicoot 5 Cancellation News Breaks Hearts Instead Of Boxes

As a die-hard Crash Bandicoot fan, it’s truly disheartening to learn that a fifth installment to this iconic platformer series was in development and has since been canceled. I still remember the excitement I felt when I heard rumors of a new Crash game, only to find out later that it was just a false lead.

Despite having fewer titles compared to other gaming icons, Crash Bandicoot, the beloved mascot of the former PlayStation, continues to hold a significant place in the hearts of many gamers. Consequently, it’s deeply disappointing to discover that a highly anticipated Crash Bandicoot 5 was being made, only for its development to ultimately be scrapped.

Nicholas Kole, an artist specializing in character design for Activision Blizzard, announced that he had been working on a new installment in this cherished platform game series. Sadly, this project was ultimately scrapped, and Kole shared that the reason for its cancellation would be deeply unfortunate if it were ever disclosed to the public.

Kole contributed to the creation of “Project Dragon” game, which led fans to believe was a fresh Spyro the Dragon title. However, it turned out to be Crash Bandicoot 5 prior to its cancellation. Unfortunately, we won’t have a new platformer featuring these beloved characters in the near future.

An innovative sequel in the Crash Bandicoot series that fans shouldn’t miss is the one released by Toys for Bob, titled “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.” Although it’s not the fourth installment in the franchise (that title goes to “Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex”), this game offers unique features and is a must-play for fans. For those seeking an engaging pseudo-3D platformer experience filled with creative levels and quirky gimmicks, look no further than “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.”

Currently, the outlook for Crash Bandicoot is uncertain as Activision Blizzard appears to prioritize Call of Duty projects in the near term. Last year saw the launch of Crash Team Rumble, a multiplayer-centric platformer, which received decent reviews but failed to meet fan expectations. Furthermore, reports indicate that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has sold approximately 20 million copies. This successful sales figure leaves fans puzzled as to why we haven’t seen the release of Crash Bandicoot 5 yet.

As a devoted gamer, if you’re hankering for some thrilling Crash Bandicoot experiences, I strongly recommend giving Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and the N. Sane Trilogy a try! These titles are packed with excitement and are readily accessible on various platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
