Holly Marie Combs Says There’s a “Hollow in My Chest” After Shannen Doherty’s Death: “My Better Half of 31 Years”

As a devoted fan of “Charmed” and a follower of Holly Marie Combs‘ Instagram account, I was deeply moved by her heartfelt tribute to her late friend and co-star Shannen Doherty. Combs’ words painted a vivid picture of the strong bond between these two women, who had been friends for over three decades.

Holly Marie Combs is honoring her dear friend and former “Charmed” co-star, Shannen Doherty, with a heartfelt tribute.

On Mondays update on Instagram, the actress reminisced about Doherty whom she referred to as her “other half.”

“My devoted partner of thirty-one years. A deep sadness has taken hold of me, leaving a gaping hole in my heart that steals my ability to breathe. Though you’re no longer here, I am acutely aware of what words would pass your lips and what actions you’d suggest. Your indomitable spirit will endure within us, as we embody your values and principles. We will remain steadfast in truth and unyielding in standing up for what is right. Your fierce determination will continue to burn brightly through us and the countless others whose lives you touched.”

“You were an unyielding warrior till the very end. My most dedicated ally, my steadfast guardian, and my cherished companion. You showed me what true bond means. To me, you’ve always been and will forever be my gaming sibling. I hold a deep affection for you.”

Doherty passed away on July 13 following a prolonged fight against breast cancer at the age of 53. Her cancer was initially identified in March 2015. In her final days, Doherty expressed optimism despite undergoing another round of chemotherapy treatments.

In the most recent installment of Doherty’s “Let’s Be Clear” podcast, which dropped on July 8, she introduced Combs as a new member of their team for “The House of Halliwell,” the Charmed rewatch show run by Combs, Krause, and Fuller. The podcast had taken a break in October 2022 but was scheduled to resume production with Doherty’s addition.

When Doherty sadly passed away, I, as a huge fan and devoted listener, felt compelled to tune in to the podcast for their heartfelt tribute. On July 14th, they released a special episode in her honor. Krause’s introduction was so moving, it brought tears to my eyes as she spoke about the actress we all admired.

At the House of Halliwell, iHeartmedia, and across social media platforms worldwide, we’re all in disbelief and deeply saddened. Her loss is a great one, as she was taken from us far too soon. She was young, gifted, loving, grateful, and her departure comes much earlier than expected. Shannen will be profoundly missed, and we feel privileged to have been part of her journey in the new House of Halliwell.

Before Doherty’s passing, Krause had tape-recorded several podcast episodes together: “Fortunately, we managed to record four episodes within the past week. Shannen was incredibly driven and committed not only to making this podcast a hit but also to providing our listeners with an in-depth look into the creation of Charmed, revealing the fun and behind-the-scenes aspects.”

He shared he along with Combs and Fuller will continue the rewatch podcast to “honor” Doherty.

“Moving forward, we will carry on her legacy with determination and strength, just as she would have done. From all of us at the House of Halliwell, our deepest appreciation and love goes out to you. Please keep Shannen in your thoughts during this difficult time.”

Some of Doherty’s past costars and friends, including the cast of “Beverly Hills, 90210” such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Olivia Munn, Rose McGowan, and Alyssa Milano, paid tribute to the actress on social media after her passing was announced.
