As a huge fan of Andra Day‘s acting abilities and Lee Daniels’ unique storytelling, I am beyond excited for the release of “The Deliverance.” Having witnessed Day’s powerful performance as Billie Holiday in “The United States VS Billie Holiday,” I have no doubt that she will once again deliver a captivating portrayal of Ebony Jackson, a mother who must confront her personal demons and a demonic force threatening her family.
In a newly unveiled trailer for “The Deliverance” by Lee Daniels, Andrea Day portrays a determined young mother struggling for hers, as well as her children’s lives and faith.
In her new abode shrouded in secrecy, single mother Ebony Jackson, portrayed by the talented Day and grappling with inner turmoil, encounters an ominous presence threatening her kids’ safety and must bravely confront it.
“Father, please purify and make holy us for this rescue,” Reverend Bernice James, portrayed by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, pleads in a solemn voice during the ominous preview, seeking to save not only the house but also Ebony’s family from the disruptive influence of possession.
In the original text, “Not all goes as planned for Ebony as she finds herself engaged in a struggle against greater forces to save herself and her loved ones from demonic possession” could be a possible paraphrase. The meaning remains the same, but the words are arranged differently to make it more natural and easy to read. Additionally, the text mentions that this is based on a true story and features certain actors, so those details have been kept in the paraphrased version as well.
In a new and innovative move for Daniels, the religious film titled “The Deliverance” will make its premiere in selected cinemas on August 16, followed by its arrival on Netflix on August 30. Following her portrayal of Billie Holiday in “The United States vs Billie Holiday“, Day collaborates with Daniels once again for this project.
