‘Reservation Dogs’ (Finally) Nominated for Best Comedy Series Emmy

As a passionate fan of quality television, I’ve had the pleasure of discovering and following the journey of “Reservation Dogs” since its inception. This FX/Hulu comedy series, co-created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, has captivated my heart with its authentic portrayal of Native American life on a reservation in Oklahoma.

Reservation Dogs is finally getting some Emmy love in its final season.

As an assistant to a dedicated gamer, I’d put it like this: “I’ve been following that hilarious FX/Hulu show for a while now, created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi. It’s earned a ton of praise from critics, snagging awards at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, Spirit Awards, and Writers Guild Awards. But somehow, Emmy nominations have always eluded it. That is, until this morning when I woke up to some exciting news!”

I’m thrilled to share that our beloved show was nominated in the best comedy series category for the 2024 Emmys. It’s an honor to be in the same league as amazing shows like “Abbott Elementary,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Hacks,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Palm Royale,” and “The Bear,” not to mention the hilarious “What We Do in the Shadows.” What an exciting time for comedy television!

I’m thrilled to share that D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and I have earned four Emmy nominations this year! He was recognized for his leading role in a comedy series, while the team and I were nominated for picture editing in a single-camera comedy series and cinematography for a half-hour single-camera series. This is an incredible accomplishment for “Reservation Dogs,” as it has previously only received one Emmy nod – for sound editing back in 2023.

In the autumn, the third and last season of the show, centering around a gang of teenagers (Woon-A-Tai, Devery Jacobs, Lane Factor, and Paulina Alexis) growing up on an Oklahoma Native American reservation, was broadcasted.

“I had a premonition about how this tale would conclude, but I was unsure of when that point would come. As we worked on new episodes and scripts for the third season, it became evident to both the producers and me, under Taika’s direction, that the final episode of season three would serve as a fitting conclusion for the entire series.”

FX had an impressive Emmy Awards recognition, not just for “Reservation Dogs,” but also for shows like “Shogun,” “The Bear,” “Fargo,” “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” and “Welcome to Wrexham,” as well as “American Horror Story: Delicate.”

On September 15, the Emmy Awards ceremony of the 76th edition will be aired live on ABC. The following day, you’ll be able to stream it on Hulu. The event will take place at the Peacock Theater located within L.A. Live in Los Angeles.
