In theaters, Twisters makes its debut with a strong opening week of $10.7 million from domestic preview screenings on Thursday. Although not an official sequel, there’s a powerful emotional bond between franchise leads Bill Paxton and Glen Powell. As an extra treat for fans, James Paxton, Bill’s son, appears in the disaster film directed by Lee Isaac Chung. In conversation with Yahoo Entertainment, Powell shared:
As a big fan of Bill, I can personally attest to the profound impact this movie had on him. As a long-time movie enthusiast and critic, I’ve seen my fair share of blockbuster films, both good and bad. Based on current predictions, Twisters is expected to rake in an impressive $45 million to $50 million domestically during its opening weekend. That’s quite a feat for a sequel, especially when considering the original film only managed to make half that amount during its debut.
