As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of the Spartacus franchise, I can’t contain my excitement about Lucy Lawless’ return to the series in Spartacus: House of Ashur. Having grown up with Lawless’ iconic portrayal of Lucretia in the original show, I still remember the thrill of watching her performances every week. The impact of the Spartacus series on television was immense, setting records for Starz and earning numerous accolades, including Lawless’ win at the 2011 Saturn Awards for Best Supporting Actress on Television.

The renowned actor Lucy Lawless, who played the role of Spartacus’s wife Lucretia in the original “Spartacus” series, is coming back to the franchise in the new show titled “Spartacus: House of Ashur”. Lawless shone in the first series where her husband was portrayed by John Hannah as Quintus Lentulus Batiatus. This upcoming series is described as an “enthralling, sensual, exhilarating journey that twists history while maintaining the essence of what made the initial series a massive success.”

I’m ecstatic to share that I’ll make an appearance as a special guest in the premiere of “House of Ashur.” My role, according to reports, is pivotal in establishing the thought-provoking “what if?” scenarios that unfold in this intriguing alternate retelling. Creator, writer, and executive producer Steven S. DeKnight, known for his work on “Spartacus” and its latest installment, expressed his delight in my return to the role. With Xena: Warrior Princess actress Lawless being quite a busy bee these days, it’s truly an honor to collaborate with her once more.

Instead of “With news of House of Ashur resembling Marvel’s What If…?, many have questioned if we require another version of Spartacus focusing on Ashur. Although Ashur was popular, did he truly merit his own series in a different reality? Absolutely!”

One reason is that it looks really exciting and entertaining. The show “Spartacus” drew us in with its complex characters we love to despise, distinct dialogues that we couldn’t help but imitate, and visually stunning portrayal of battles that made us feel like active participants in the arena clashing against Theokoles. Therefore, based on this experience, “House of Ashur” appears to be a new addition to the series that feels comfortingly familiar.

As someone who grew up during the early 2010s, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when I think about that era. It was a time of hope and excitement, with Barack Obama leading the country, blockbuster movies like “Toy Story 3” dominating the box office, and the introduction of game-changing technology like the iPad. I remember wearing Silly Bandz and collecting Monster High dolls with my friends, and being captivated by shows like “The Walking Dead,” “Downton Abbey,” and “Raising Hope.”

The production of “Spartacus: House of Ashur” is ongoing, and even though a specific release date in 2025 has not been announced yet, anticipation grows for its eventual debut. Further details will be shared once they become public.
