Legend Of Vox Machina Isn't My Usual Kind Of Show, But New Prime Video Clip Has Me More Hyped Than Ever For Season 3

As a long-time fan of live-action TV shows, I must admit that animated series don’t typically grab my attention for extended periods. However, there is one exception to this rule: The Legend of Vox Machina, Amazon Prime Video’s fantastical gem produced by the critically acclaimed Critical Role team. My anticipation for the upcoming third season is palpable, and the recent release of a new clip has only intensified my excitement.

The summer TV season of 2024 is nearing its end, making way for the fall when several network shows I enjoy will return with fresh episodes. Despite my preference for medical and crime procedurals, I’m eagerly waiting for “The Legend of Vox Machina,” an animated fantasy series on Amazon Prime Video that I hardly ever watch but can’t wait for its third season. A recently released clip has only fueled my excitement further.

To begin with, let me clarify that when I state that “Legend of Vox Machina” isn’t typically the type of show I enjoy as an adult, it is not meant as a derogatory comment towards the program or its genres. I seldom watch animated TV series outside of established franchises that I’m fond of, such as Star Wars. Moreover, this show is adapted from Critical Role’s first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, and my knowledge about D&D stems primarily from Stranger Things and any peripheral exposure at San Diego Comic-Con. I have never played a tabletop roleplaying game before, not even Monopoly.

As someone who has spent years covering crime procedurals for TopMob and consuming countless hours of gritty, realistic content, I can tell you that sometimes, a girl just needs a break. And let me tell you, it was pure serendipity that led me to discover the wondrous world of Vox Machina.

Discovering it in 2024, even though it could have been one of the most popular TV shows in 2022, I came across “The Legend of Vox Machina” Season 3 preview clip. This clip was shared on X (previously known as Twitter) before the show’s debut at San Diego Comic-Con. Despite being brief, it successfully revived my anticipation for the upcoming episodes. Here’s the sneak peek:

If I’m a new viewer of Critical Role and haven’t seen any of their past campaigns, would I understand what’s going on in this clip? Definitely not, but I’m looking forward to it! The relationship between Percy and Vex was a highlight for me in the first two seasons, so even a brief interaction between them, even if tense, makes it a must-watch for me. The quirky music playing during Scanlan’s broom ride seems unlikely to be included in the final version of the episode this clip is from, as Scanlan himself appears to be singing. Additionally, the banners for Doctor Dranzel’s Traveling Troupe suggest that we might see Kaylie. She does appear in the Season 3 opening credits, so there’s a possibility she’ll make an appearance.

Starting Thursday, October 3, the third installment of “The Legend of Vox Machina” will be available on Prime Video, enabling you to watch it with a subscription. In the meantime, feel free to rewatch the first two seasons that are currently streaming, keeping you entertained until autumn unveils fresh episodes.
