As a long-time fan of football video games, I am beyond excited for the upcoming release of FIFA 25. Having spent countless hours playing and managing teams in previous versions, I can’t help but be impressed by the significant improvements EA has made to the series.
With FUTTIES winding down FIFA 24 from EA Sports, the upcoming annual edition of their football game series is just around the corner.
I’m thrilled that FC 25 is nearly here! In our sneak peek, we highlighted numerous enhancements designed especially for aspiring team strategists like myself.
Instead of “Channelling all players’ inner Pep Guardiola or Sean Dyche, EA FC 25 is overhauling the locker room setup with fresh Player Roles, intelligent strategies, and additional features.”
FC 25 revamps Player Roles with over 50 positions
FC 25 is shifting its focus towards more specialized player roles, allowing for increased innovation and creativity on the field, similar to how Pep Guardiola approaches team composition.
Instead of “The position of Wing Back has been replaced with that of a Full Back, now referred to as an ‘Attacking Full-Back'” or “Instead of the traditional Wing Back role, a new position called ‘Attacking Full-Back’ in football has emerged, which combines elements of both Wing Back and Full Back positions.”

In their assigned roles, players like Vinicius Jr are expected to shine. He is particularly effective as an Inside Forward on the Left Wing, but he can also succeed as a Poacher in the Striking role or as a Winger on the Left Wing.
FC 25 finally changes the D-Pad in-game tactics
Instead of “For years, the D-Pad tactics in FC (Football Club) have been insignificant, except for the odd Team Press, but FC 25 introduces changes that empower managers to impact the game more,” you could also say:
You’ll no longer use the Ultra-Attacking slider but instead have access to various custom tactic options on the D-pad. This allows you to label distinct strategies and switch between an aggressive, attack-focused setup and a defensive, counter-attack approach.
With substitutions for the D-Pad, you can easily bring on a bench player without interrupting the game flow by going to the pause menu.
In FC 25, you take on the role of the manager instead of just being an additional player, allowing for more innovative set pieces.
