As a die-hard fan of Kit Harington and his iconic character Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia and disappointment all at once as I watch him return to the world of Westeros for the announcement of the new video game, Game of Thrones: Legends. While it’s exciting to see Harington back in character, even if just for a video game ad, it’s hard not to be reminded of the Jon Snow spinoff that never was.
Kit Harington is back in the realm of “Game of Thrones,” though not as Jon Snow as some had anticipated. After reports surfaced that his spin-off was canceled, the actor resurfaced in Westeros-related news, unveiling a fresh video game connection instead. This revelation brings joy but also stirs up lingering disappointment over the abandoned spinoff project.
Kit Harington Returned To The World Of Game Of Thrones For A Video Game
Zynga introduced “Game of Thrones: Legends,” and to make a big splash, they invited Kit Harington back to discuss the game with a captivating Jon Snow portrayal. Although he didn’t wear his former “Game of Thrones” (GOT) costumes, the intensity was palpable, making for an enjoyable viewing experience – check it out!
Legends” is a role-playing puzzle game for smartphones that includes stories and characters from “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon.” A promotional video showcases Kit Harington acting seriously as Jon Snow within the game, followed by him jokingly breaking character and engaging in a lighthearted exchange with a fan.
The actor expressed his eagerness for the game in a press release, sharing his excitement with the public upon its release.
The thoughtfulness and artistry put into developing Game of Thrones: Legends are evident, making it effortless to return to Westeros for this game. This new campaign is a heartfelt homage to the devoted fans whose unwavering support have kept the franchise alive, and I’m privileged to join in celebrating them.
In this game, you’ll encounter various missions, such as striving for the Iron Throne’s possession. You’ll also meet characters like Jon Snow, Rhaenyra Targaryen, Arya Stark, The Hound, Criston Cole, and others. Your objective is to propel your house to triumph by solving challenges, forming alliances, and tactically engaging in battles.
It’s great news that Harington is returning with Jon Snow’s character, bringing excitement and joy. Yet, it’s hard not to feel a pang of disappointment over the missed opportunity to explore more about his storyline in the spinoff we won’t get to witness.
Yes, It Makes Me Even More Salty About the Jon Snow Spinoff
Approximately two years ago, there were reports that HBO was working on a follow-up series featuring Jon Snow, with Harington set to star. However, just this past spring, it became public knowledge that the project had been canceled.
I was excitedly anticipating the new series featuring my favorite actor and his iconic character. However, I was disappointed when the project didn’t materialize. Therefore, seeing him reappear in a video game commercial, essentially reviving the role, brought back some bittersweet feelings and reminded me of the missed opportunity.
Despite the challenge I’ve faced (it hasn’t been easy to move past it), I’m making an effort to look on the bright side. For instance, although the “Game of Thrones” spinoff didn’t materialize as planned, there are numerous exciting new projects in the works. One of them is the “Dunk and Egg” series, which includes “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” currently being produced.
At the same time, the second season of “House of the Dragon” is currently being broadcast on television in 2024, and it’s been truly impressive thus far!
In every direction, there’s an abundance of content related to “Game of Thrones” at our disposal, such as this fresh game and the commercial Kit Harington made for it. Nevertheless, I can’t help but ponder what might have transpired with the Jon Snow spinoff.
As a gamer, I’d say: Instead of dwelling on what’s past us, let’s shift our attention to the present. Exciting news for all Game of Thrones fans, the new game, “Game of Thrones: Legends,” is now available! And if you can’t get enough of Kit Harington as Jon Snow, you can always revisit the series by streaming Game of Thrones with a Max subscription. As for learning more about Targaryen history, make sure to tune in every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on both the streamer and HBO for House of the Dragon.
