Samir Soni reacts to Karan Johar, Farah Khan’s comments on rising entourage cost: ‘Kuch kami toh aap mein bhi hai’

As a dedicated follower of the Hindi film industry, I strongly believe that the ongoing discourse about the rising costs of star entourages is a conversation long overdue. The recent comments made by Farah Khan and Karan Johar have sparked quite a debate on social media, and I wholeheartedly agree with actors like Samir Soni and Rajeev Khandelwal who have responded to their remarks.

Surprisingly, it’s high time the Hindi film industry had this important discussion – the increasing expenses of entourages for rising stars. This topic is creating quite a stir on social media, with many actors and filmmakers expressing their views. Farah Khan and Karan Johar have recently weighed in, prompting a response from actor Samir Soni.

Samir Soni on Karan Johar and Farah Khan double downing on star entourage

During an interview with Ujjwal Trivedi on his YouTube channel, the actor from Made in Heaven expressed that when Karan Johar and Farah Khan feel the costs are escalating, they should remember that they are the ones footing the bill.

Samir remarked, “It’s hypocritical to bring in a high-priced star and then criticize others for taking large sums of money. We all have our flaws. After all, there are those who would gladly work for a million rupees or even fifty lakhs. You’ve made this choice.”

What did Karan Johar say about the rising cost of film production?

In a recent conversation with Faye D’Souza, Karan Johar discussed the rising costs of filmmaking and inflation. He expressed his frustration by saying, “Currently, there are approximately ten actors in Hindi cinema who have substantial drawing power. And they all want the sun, moon, and earth in compensation.”

Rajeev Khandelwal, like Samir Soni before him, has responded to Karan Johar‘s comment about actors demanding large sums of money but failing to deliver substantial openings. In conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Rajeev questioned, “But who granted them the Rs 35 crore deal in the first place? If not Rs 35 crore, then surely it was another significant amount.”

Rajeev pondered if it was just KJo who used to pay them Rs 25 crores, and as long as that arrangement worked, the director was acceptable. But when this no longer sufficed, all criticism shifted towards the actors’ wages. “Who caused this? You brought these creatures into being,” Khandelwal retorted.
