Temp Project’s Serene and Modern Office Takes Home in a Historic 1910s Building

As a seasoned gamer and architecture enthusiast, I’ve always been captivated by the intersection of history and modern design. So when I came across Temp Project’s stunning modern office space in Kyiv, I was immediately drawn in.

Temp Project, an interior design studio based in Kyiv, has discovered a tranquil and elegant modern office nestled in the city center. Under the guidance of architect Anastasia Tempynska, this office is housed in a six-story historical building. Designed by architect Josyp Zetsker in 1914, the structure showcases a historicist style with neoclassical accents.

To create a refined and contemporary look for the office’s interior design, we maintained the building’s allure by keeping original decorative ceiling stucco with geometric and floral patterns. The exterior’s opulent façade served as inspiration, with features like the arches above the windows being incorporated into the new design.

Covering 120 square meters, the office design features a main working zone, a meeting area, an independent workspace, and a relaxing zone for employees. The aesthetic combines contemporary and romantic elements: pristine white walls contrast with dark wooden accents. Glass partitions separate spaces to maximize natural light and foster an open environment.

As a fan of contemporary design, I’m drawn to the sleek lines and minimalist feel of this space. But what really makes it special are the distinct Ukrainian elements that add an intriguing layer of eclecticism. Noom’s Flock chairs capture my attention with their expressive curves, while Assha World’s sculpture brings a sense of organic whimsy. And PINK GENTLE CLOUDS’ ceramic table and mirror complete the look with their earthy textures and gentle reflection. Together, these pieces offset the clean aesthetic of the contemporary design, making this space feel unique and full of character.

According to Tempynska, “It’s always intriguing to work with historic structures.” These structures hold a unique allure and history, bringing the past back to life in the present. In this setting, we uncovered some distinct geometric shapes in the sockets and moldings. Our design process started by focusing on these elements, ensuring their preservation and enhancement.
