Chace Crawford Revealed Which Gossip Girl Stars He'd Like To See Join The Boys Cast, And I Hope Eric Kripke Is Listening

As a huge fan of both “Gossip Girl” and “The Boys,” I can’t help but be excited by Chace Crawford‘s recent suggestion of casting his former co-stars, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley, in the upcoming seasons of “The Boys.” Crawford’s transformation from the privileged Nate Archibald on the CW teen drama to the deeply flawed and often comically tragic The Deep in Amazon’s hyper-violent superhero series is truly remarkable.

In the latest finale of “The Boys,” Sage, the new Supe sister, underwent a self-lobotomy to match The Deep’s intelligence level. Quite an transformation for Chace Crawford since his days on “Gossip Girl” in 2007, where Blake Lively and Leighton Meester vied for his affection. While there are significant differences between the brutal superhero show and the CW teen drama, Crawford believes there’s some common ground. He even suggested that two of his former co-stars would fit well in “The Boys” cast.

At Comic-Con, Chace Crawford, who portrays The Deep in “The Boys” (stream it with an Amazon Prime membership), shared his preference for which St. Jude ex-classmate he’d like to see added to the show’s cast for Season 5. Let’s hope that showrunner Eric Kripke is paying attention to Crawford’s suggestion.

Ed Westwick would be a great fit for that world. It could very well be him.

Back in the past, I was utterly captivated by the entangling high school scandals of “Gossip Girl.” Consequently, I wholeheartedly concur that Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley would excel in Eric Kripke’s universe of manipulative superhumans and their determined adversaries.

Ed Westwick’s Chuck Bass displayed a significant amount of evil traits from the start, particularly during his early interactions with Taylor Momsen’s Jenny Humphrey. These encounters bore a striking resemblance to The Deep’s initial encounters with Erin Moriarty’s Starlight, implying a certain sinister connection between them. Chace Crawford had an inkling of the type of villainous character Westwick could bring to life.

This person has the potential to be quite amusing, even bringing to mind the image of Batman – but with a comedic twist, think of a humorous take on the Dark Knight.

As a gamer, I’ve got to admit that The Boys Season 4 took things up a notch with their Batman-inspired spoof featuring Tek Knight and his ominous batcave. But if we’re talking about adding some real depth to the show, I’d definitely put my support behind Ed Westwick as the gritty, brooding counterpart to Homelander or the newcomer Firecracker. Heck, Chuck Bass and Firecracker would make one heck of a formidable duo!

As a long-time fan of “Gossip Girl,” I was taken aback when Penn Badgley’s character Dan Humphrey was unmasked as the infamous Gossip Girl in the series finale. After watching him portray the nice guy persona for six seasons, it was a shocking twist that showcased Badgley’s range as an actor. His manipulative side was something I hadn’t expected from him, and it left me pondering what other roles he could excel in.

It’s a remote possibility, but I’d be eager to see a “Gossip Girl” reunion when “The Boys” comes back for its last season. Eric Kripke has even mentioned that he isn’t shy about giving roles to people, so who knows? (I hope that made more sense now)

Re-experience Chace Crawford’s role as Nate on “Gossip Girl” or keep up with “The Boys,” one of the top streaming services where you can find both shows, by subscribing to Max and streaming them online.
