As a devoted musical theater fan, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming Broadway production of “The Queen of Versailles,” based on the fascinating and intriguing life of Jacqueline “Jackie” Siegel. The fact that the production is being led by the talented Kristin Chenoweth as Jackie and F. Murray Abraham as her husband, David, makes this a must-see event for me.
A new musical titled “The Queen of Versailles,” which is inspired by television personality Jackie Siegel and is yet to be released, is expected to make its Broadway debut during the 2025-2026 season.
I’m an avid theater goer and gamer at heart, and I’ve got some exciting news for you! Currently gracing the Emerson Colonial Theatre stage in Boston is a musical that truly piques my interest. This production, which boasts a captivating score by Stephen Schwartz, has drawn me in with its intriguing cast.
Producers Bill Damaschke from Seaview, along with Chenoweth’s Diva Worldwide Entertainment, expressed their excitement about creating a fresh new American musical in Boston. The entire team at Queen of Versailles is thrilled to be working with the generous and cultured audience in Boston. We’re eager for this creative process and can’t wait to share this story on Broadway during the 2025-26 season.
Exact dates, theater and casting for Broadway have not yet been announced.
The musical draws inspiration from Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary “The Queen of Versailles.” In this film, we follow the Siegels as they attempt to construct a massive mansion in Florida, making it one of the biggest homes in the US. Yet, their endeavors and financial stability are disrupted by the economic downturn caused by the 2008 recession.
I’m thrilled to share that the musical isn’t just blessed with a captivating score from Schwartz, who brought us “Wicked,” “Pippin,” and more, but also boasts an impressive book penned by Lindsey Ferrentino, known for her work on “Amy and the Orphans.” The vision for this production is skillfully brought to life by Michael Arden, the director of “Parade,” while Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant add their choreographic magic, having previously worked on “Parade” as well.
In the present ensemble, Melody Butiu (from “Here Lies Love”) plays Sofia, Stephen DeRosa (“Boardwalk Empire” actor) is John, Greg Hildreth (“Company” cast member) portrays Gary, Tatum Grace Hopkins depicts Jonquil, Isabel Keating (“The Boy from Oz” actress) takes on Debbie, and Nina White (“Kimberly Akimbo” actress) assumes the role of Victoria Siegel.
