Erica Ash, ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ and ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ Actress, Dies at 46

I was deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Erica Ash at the age of 46. Her vibrant energy and boundless talent graced our screens for many years, bringing joy and laughter to countless viewers.

Erica Ash, who had stints on Fox’s “Mad TV” for two seasons and graced BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and Starz’s “Survivor’s Remorse,” tragically passed away at the age of 46.

On a sad note, Ash passed away in Los Angeles on Sunday following a prolonged fight against cancer, according to her representative Elizabeth Much, who shared the news with The Hollywood Reporter.

“The family shared that Erica was a remarkable individual and gifted performer whose spirit brightened many lives through her clever humor, warmth, and infectious enthusiasm. Her legacy will continue to resonate within us forever.”

She also starred as the fierce public defender Gwen Sullivan on the 2018 BET drama In Contempt.

Ash initially caught attention by featuring in the first two seasons (2006-08) of Logo’s “The Big Gay Sketch Show”, a production by Rosie O’Donnell, and subsequently made appearances in films such as “Scary Movie V” (2013), “Uncle Drew” (2018), “The Big Bend” (2021) and “Violet” (2021).

Ash acted as Mary Charles, or “M-Chuck,” Cam Calloway’s half-sister in the four-season run (from 2014 to 2017) of “Survivor’s Remorse.” This show was developed by LeBron James through his Spring Hill Productions.

On the TV show “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” Bridgette Hart (her character’s name) caused significant trouble for her ex-husband Kevin Hart during its five-season run from 2013 to 2016.

1. Erica Chantal Ash, born on September 19, 1977, in Florida, went to Emory University. In the year 2011, she made her Broadway debut with the musical “Baby It’s You!”, a jukebox production by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott that showcased songs from The Shirelles and other artists signed to Scepter Records.

I’d be grateful if you could consider making a donation in her memory to support the cause of breast cancer research and awareness. You can choose to contribute to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or any other trusted breast cancer foundation that resonates with you. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.

Ash was an extraordinary actress whose versatility and skill knew no bounds, as pointed out by Rel Dowdell, director of film studies at Hampton University. Her body of work spanned across all genres, consistently leaving a lasting, high-quality impact on her audience with each performance.
