Grand Seiko Reveals Two US-Exclusive “Kirazuri” 44GS Watches

As a seasoned watch collector with a penchant for Japanese craftsmanship, I can confidently say that Grand Seiko has outdone themselves yet again! The new Heritage Collection duo, limited to just 300 pieces per colorway, is an absolute marvel of design and artistry.

Grand Seiko introduces two new additions to its renowned Heritage Collection, the 44GS references, which are only available in North America. These timepieces feature dials inspired by the “Kirazuri” style, meaning “sparkling painting,” a method used in traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock art from the Edo era. This technique involves incorporating mica powder into the printing process to achieve a radiant effect.

These watches, specifically the SBGA507 and SBGA509 models, make an entrance in cool blue and dusty rose hues, respectively. These colors echo the changing tones of Lake Suwa’s sky – the cool blue reflecting the tranquility of the evening, while the dusty rose brings a warm, sunrise-inspired ambiance to life.

Nestled within 40mm-wide stainless steel casings, this exclusive edition showcases Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive Caliber 9R65, boasting a 72-hour power reserve. This self-winding mechanism can be admired through its transparent caseback and offers a water resistance of up to 10 ATM.

Only 300 pieces of each watch colorway are being produced, with a price tag of $5,600 USD each. They will be sold via Grand Seiko’s US website, their own boutiques, and selected retailers.
