Marvel Snagged Two Release Dates After Avengers: Secret Wars, Here's Why I Think The X-Men Reboot And Spider-Man 4 Are Following The Multiverse Saga

As a gamer with over two decades of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming Marvel movies slated for 2027 are shaping up to be nothing short of epic. With the multiverse saga coming to an end, it’s only fitting for the MCU to bring in fresh faces and familiar heroes to keep us hooked.

Occasionally, production studios disclose the release dates of some upcoming films without revealing their titles. The most recent example is Marvel Studios, which has added two unnamed movies to its 2027 schedule. These dates are particularly interesting because they follow the release of Avengers: Secret Wars, the final film in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. It remains a mystery what films will be shown on July 23, 2027 and November 5, 2027, but it’s speculated that they could be the upcoming X-Men reboot and Spider-Man 4, potentially marking the beginning of a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hey there fellow gamer! Right now, it’s exciting to know that four upcoming Marvel movies have been confirmed for production, even though we don’t have release dates yet: Armor Wars, Spider-Man 4, Shang-Chi 2, and the X-Men reboot. Adding to this list, given the Multiverse of Madness end-credits scene hinting at Doctor Strange teaming up with Clea, we can expect Doctor Strange 3 as well. A while back, I might’ve mentioned Eternals 2, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has shared that there are no immediate plans for that project at the moment.

Among these five films, if none is associated with an upcoming unannounced project in 2027, the X-Men reboot and Spider-Man 4 appear to be ideal choices for the first movies post-Multiverse Saga. This is primarily because Marvel already has specific dates reserved for February 13, 2026, and November 6, 2026, making films like Armor Wars, Shang-Chi 2, and Doctor Strange 3 more suitable for those release dates. In fact, I suspect that the latter two might even be part of the Multiverse Saga.

As someone who grew up reading Marvel Comics and following the adventures of the X-Men, I am beyond thrilled at the prospect of finally seeing this iconic superhero team take center stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). For decades, the X-Men have been a staple of comic book fandom, often outselling and outshining even the mighty Avengers. The fact that the MCU is now planning to introduce them as the starting point for its next saga is nothing short of exciting.

Regarding Spider-Man 4, there’s definitely enthusiasm among fans for this project, but it seems unlikely that Jon Watts will be directing again. Since No Way Home was released at the end of 2021, progress on the film has been minimal. Perhaps this is beneficial, though. No Way Home wrapped up a trilogy that started with Homecoming in 2017, so when Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, Spider-Man 4 should feel like a fresh beginning in his storyline, whether it sets the stage for another trilogy or not. A six-year gap between films can certainly make his return more impactful. While the X-Men reboot will feature new actors, Spider-Man 4 will continue to develop a corner of the MCU that fans have followed for nearly a decade by then.

The upcoming X-Men and Spider-Man 4 could be an amazing duo for starting the post-Multiverse Saga period. So, if either of these films claims those 2027 release dates or other movies take their place instead, we’ll keep you updated.
