As a long-time fan of both Richard Simmons and Pauly Shore, I find myself caught in the middle of this intriguing saga. Having grown up watching both icons, their careers have been intertwined in my heart since the late ’80s.
As a gamer, I’m excitedly sharing an update on a project close to my heart – a biopic about the legendary fitness icon, Richard Simmons, who became a household name in the late ’80s. Ever since the release of my short film, The Court Jester, earlier this year, which stirred some debate, I’ve been working diligently on this project.
As a gamer, I recently stumbled upon some chatter about a movie project involving the iconic fitness guru, Richard Simmons. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, a comedian shared his doubts about whether Richie disapproved of the project. This got me thinking – could it be possible that those negative tweets weren’t sent by the beloved health advocate himself? The actor from “Son in Law,” speaking on this matter, stated:
As a seasoned observer of human behavior, I can tell you from my years of experience that people often express their desires indirectly. In this case, it seems to me that the individual may have hinted at wanting something done without explicitly saying so. However, I must admit, I’m not entirely certain if he was voicing disapproval on social media or simply stating his thoughts. The identity of the person behind the tweets remains a mystery to me.
Despite what the claims made by the alum of “Goofy Movie,” the Simmons team has swiftly denied them. Lenny Simmons and his staff used the late fitness guru’s X (previously Twitter) platform to clarify that the star of “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” never endorsed the actor from “Bio-Dome.” They wrote on the account:
As a dedicated admirer of Richard, I’m compelled to share some exciting updates: Pauly Shore has been vocal about his intentions to produce an unauthorized film about our beloved icon, Richard. You’ve followed along with us here as we shared Richard’s thoughts on this biopic.
The team then shared a direct comment from Lenny Simmons, Richard’s brother. He wrote:
As a dedicated gamer, I meticulously craft my own posts, giving myself ample time a week in advance to polish and perfect them. I’d run them by Cathy and me before publishing, making sure they conveyed the intended message accurately. However, contrary to what Pauly has claimed numerous times, there was no communication between us – not a text, email, or call wishing him luck for anything.
The talk surrounding the biographical film based on the comic started in January, and Richard Simmons didn’t hesitate to express his doubts. Directly addressing the unauthorized production on Facebook, Simmons wrote, “There are rumors about a movie being made about me starring Pauly Shore. I have not given my consent for this movie, so disregard any information you may have heard.”
Regarding Mr. Simmons’ protests, the voice actor for “Pinocchio: A True Story” remains firm in his decision. He sees this project as a touching tribute to the fitness icon and is dedicated to carrying it out. In an interview with Variety, Shore made clear that his aim is to honor Simmons, not to make fun of him. The tone of “The Court Jester,” a video available on YouTube, seems emotional, mirroring Shore’s intention to create a genuine homage rather than a satire.
Following Richard Simmons’ passing in July, Pauly Shore paid tribute to the legendary figure by sharing heartfelt appreciation and admiration for him. He chose platform X to pen down his feelings.

It’s unclear whether Pauly Shore’s biopic will be included in the 2025 movie lineup, but despite the uproar, his unauthorized project seems to be progressing at Warner Bros.’ subsidiary, The Wolper Organization. Jordan Allen-Dutton, a previous writer for “Robot Chicken,” is set to write the script. We’ll see if the ongoing drama around the film causes any postponements or cancellations in the future.
