As a dedicated follower of the Bollywood industry and having had the privilege to witness the lives of many celebrated personalities, I must say that the passing of Menka Irani leaves a profound impact not just on her immediate family but also on the countless lives she touched through her children’s success.
Tragically, filmmakers Farah Khan and Sajid Khan’s mother, Menka Irani, passed away at the age of 79 on July 26th. According to an article in Indian Express, she had been unwell for a considerable period. Notable personalities like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Rani Mukerji, Shilpa Shetty, Fardeen Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and others paid their final respects by visiting Farah’s residence following her demise.
4th August saw a heartfelt gathering held at Zoya Akhtar’s residence in honor of Menka Irani. A diverse group of stars including Farah and Ananya Panday, as well as Karan Johar, graced the occasion with their presence.

On the 4th of August, I, a devoted admirer, couldn’t help but share a heartfelt post on my Instagram. It was a cherished photograph from my childhood, taken with my late mother, Menka Irani. In this image, she lovingly wraps her arm around my shoulder as we both beam with adorable smiles for the camera.
Sharing the post, Sajid expressed with a heavy heart, “Still can’t believe you are gone…love u forever mummy…” He also added Olivia Erla O Byrne’s song Mother Of Mine in the background.
12th July was the special day when Farah and Sajid honored their mother’s 76th birthday. In a touching tribute, the director of Om Shanti Om penned, “We often underestimate our mothers, especially me! The past month has been an eye-opener for me regarding my deep affection for my mom, Menka. She has shown incredible strength and bravery, maintaining her humor even after numerous surgeries. Happy birthday, Mom!”
She expressed, “Today seems perfect for your return home (with a heart emoji) I’m eager for you to regain strength so we can resume our battles together. Love you (with another heart emoji)” Simultaneously, Sajid wrote, “Happy Birthday, my mom.”
