Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan have had a strong friendship for a long time. They teamed up in the 2016 film “Dear Zindagi” and also co-produced the 2022 dark comedy “Darlings.” Recently, as “Darlings” marks its second anniversary since release, let’s look back at a memorable instance when Alia divulged the message King Khan sent her after watching “Darlings.”
At a 2022 trailer launch event for the movie “Darlings”, actress Alia Bhatt spoke about how Shah Rukh Khan mimicked the language used in the film and sent her an adorable message. Alia explained, “More recently, he watched the film and messaged me, using the unique lingo from ‘Darlings’, saying, ‘Thanks you Darlings for making this movie.'”
At the gathering, Alia shared insights about the process leading up to making the film. She revealed that the script for the movie was presented to her by director Jasmeet K Reen and producer Gaurav Verma back in 2019. As she listened to the story, it took an unexpected turn, catching her off guard.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I found myself inexplicably drawn towards the role of a producer, following my work in Gangubai Kathiawadi – a feeling that came as naturally as the next breath. For those who may be unfamiliar, it marked Alia’s groundbreaking debut as a producer on Darlings.
Reflecting on Shah Rukh’s words, I shared, “Later, Shah Rukh reached out to me, saying, ‘I don’t typically co-produce projects, but I am eager to join you in this endeavor and we are going to have a fantastic time.’ It promises to be an excellent experience and one that we will cherish for years to come.”
