Ben Affleck, Matt Damon Developing Hulk Hogan Movie About Gawker Case

As a long-time follower of Hollywood and its intriguing tales, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming feature, “Killing Gawker.” The combination of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Artists Equity, along with the brilliant mind of Charles Randolph (Oscar-winning screenwriter of “The Big Short”), has me convinced we’re in for a riveting ride.

A project centered around Hulk Hogan’s legal fight with Gawker Media is being developed by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, Artists Equity. This has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Charles Randolph, who won an Oscar for his work on the 2015 film “The Big Short”, has sold the screenplay for “Killing Gawker” to us. This movie is based on Ryan Holiday’s 2018 nonfiction book “Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Intrigue“.

Director Gus Van Sant, known for his previous work with Damon and Affleck on ‘Good Will Hunting’ from their Academy Award-winning script, is in discussions about directing the project titled ‘Killing Gawker‘. As per media reports, Affleck has shown interest in playing the character of Hogan, but no formal casting decisions have been made yet.

Back in November 2016, the media company known as Gawker Media settled a lawsuit with Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, for the sum of $31 million. This was regarding a sex tape lawsuit that Hogan had filed against the company due to their publication of a portion of the video footage. The legal dispute ultimately resulted in Gawker’s website being closed down.

Peter Thiel, a billionaire tech pioneer who co-created PayPal, reportedly played a significant role and provided financial support for the legal case involving Hogan. He is depicted as a crucial figure in the movie.

More to come.
