Two Rom-Coms Are Crushing On Netflix’s Top 10 List Right Now, And They’re Both Absolutely Worth Watching

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen trends come and go like pixels on a screen. And let me tell you, the latest trend sweeping the streaming landscape is as surprising as finding an unopened power-up in a forgotten corner of Super Mario World.

Last week saw an unexpected turn of events as a romantic comedy, “Find Me Falling,” surpassed “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” on Netflix’s top spot. This movie features Harry Connick Jr., every mom’s favorite crush, as an old rocker who moves to a location where he once experienced love, only to accidentally purchase a home at a popular site for suicides. In its second week, “Find Me Falling” is back on top of the Netflix charts, and interestingly, another romantic comedy has joined it in the Top 10 list.

Last week, “Find Me Falling” attracted approximately 16.1 million viewers on Netflix, which is about 6 million more than the recent “Ghostbusters” film drew in its first week after launching on the streaming service on July 22. Even though it has an intriguing tagline, this romantic comedy is a simple yet appealing representative of the genre and is currently performing well. Interestingly, many popular romantic comedies are now debuting on Netflix and receiving significant attention. “Find Me Falling” isn’t the only example of the genre thriving in this manner.

Currently, the Netflix film “Anyone But You,” featuring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, is holding the tenth spot in Netflix’s Top 10 list. This week alone, it amassed 3 million views, making it one of the most-watched English films on Netflix. Since its release at the end of April, it has maintained its popularity. Given its engaging cast and summer feel, I anticipate it will sustain its success for a while longer. I’m hopeful that a sequel or further collaboration between the two stars will materialize.

To put it simply, surprisingly, a romantic comedy leads and concludes the Top 10 this week on the streaming platform. This isn’t unexpected considering their appeal and suitability for multiple viewings. “Anyone But You” is delightfully quirky and endearing, while “Find Me Falling” offers predictable yet charming local flavor and eccentric characters. If you haven’t seen them yet, I recommend both, especially “Anyone But You,” which requires more investment but delivers vacation vibes in a wonderful way. In my opinion, both are worth watching.

It’s worth noting that alongside the other two, a third romantic series is currently trending on Netflix’s global Top 10 list. The latest addition to Netflix’s romance collection, “A Family Affair“, has managed to hold its ground at #7 since it premiered on June 28. Interestingly, this series has shown some staying power as well. However, an important detail is that out of the three popular romantic shows, only two were Netflix exclusives and did not receive a theatrical release.

It’s clear that the streamer is attracting this specific kind of content, and we’ll need to observe if this trend persists through the autumn and holiday seasons, which are traditionally packed with competition from Hallmark’s new releases as well as other contenders.

Currently, Portugal. The Man’s lyrics resonate with the vibe of a summer of affection. I believe this sentiment aligns exceptionally well with Netflix’s current mood.
