Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista’s Buddy Cop Movie Finally Gets Major Update

Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista's Buddy Cop Movie Finally Gets Major Update

As a long-time fan of action-packed movies and musclebound heroes, I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming buddy-comedy “The Wrecking Crew” starring none other than Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista! These two titans of the screen have already proven their mettle in blockbuster hits like Aquaman and Guardians of the Galaxy, respectively, but seeing them team up as a modern-day Riggs and Murtaugh is an opportunity I never knew I needed.

In a forthcoming buddy-comedy film titled “The Wrecking Crew,” action stars Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista will team up. This movie, reminiscent of “Lethal Weapon,” is in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Interestingly, the concept for this project was initially proposed by Bautista in 2021. Furthermore, the villain role in the film has been secured by Claes Bang, best known for his portrayal of Dracula.

According to an article by The Wrap, Claes Bang, famous for his roles as Dracula in the BBC/Netflix series based on Bram Stoker’s novel, Ruben Östlund’s 2017 black comedy “The Square,” and Robert Eggers’ historical epic “The Northman,” will be facing off against Momoa and Bautista. This competition would undoubtedly be a daunting challenge for most, but Bang has consistently demonstrated his skill at playing chilling villains that make the rivalry seem plausible.

“The idea of ‘The Wrecking Ball’ came true following fans’ requests for Jason Momoa, star of Aquaman, and Dave Bautista from Guardians of the Galaxy to collaborate. This concept seemed intriguing to Bautista, who expressed his interest on social media in 2021 by saying…”

“I’m tossing this idea out there, let’s see where it takes us. Picture this: Jason Momoa and I starring as an unlikely duo in a Lethal Weapon-esque buddy cop flick, helmed by David Leitch. That’s the vision! Now, we just need to bring it to life.”

Although “The Wrecking Crew” will feature stars Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista in a nostalgic buddy-comedy reminiscent of “Lethal Weapon,” director David Leitch, known for “Deadpool 2” and “The Fall Guy,” was not attached to the project. Instead, Ángel Manuel Soto, who made his mark in comic book movies with DC’s “Blue Beetle,” will take the helm. The script has been penned by Jonathan Tropper, recognized for shows like “Banshee” and “See,” as well as the Netflix film “The Adam Project” starring Ryan Reynolds.

As a seasoned moviegoer with a penchant for action-packed films, I am eagerly anticipating “The Wrecking Crew.” With Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista starring as two half-brothers, one a rebellious cop and the other a disciplined Navy SEAL, this story is bound to be an adrenaline rush. Having grown up in Hawaii myself, I can’t help but feel a special connection to the setting of their father’s murder mystery. The 20-odd years of bad blood between them promises a complex and engaging dynamic that will undoubtedly keep viewers on the edge of their seats. With my fingers crossed for an intriguing plot twist or two, I can hardly wait to see this film unfold.

2021 saw Jason Momoa expressing eagerness for collaborating with Dave Bautista on an upcoming project. In his words, he was astonished that a mere tweet could pave the way for this opportunity.

“What a turn of events! For years I’ve been striving for an opportunity like this, and lo and behold, a tweet makes it happen! Then, when I was asked about it on Corden, our phones have been inundated ever since. So, it looks like that project is definitely going ahead. He even had the courtesy to text me first. My response? A resounding ‘Yes, tell me where to sign!’ It turns out he tweeted it only after I gave my approval, and then it spread like wildfire across social media. Guess this just goes to show that sometimes, things can be surprisingly simple!”
