Kumar Sanu on not getting chance to sing in Hindi movies; ‘Agar industry wale samajh jaayein toh...'

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for music and its impact on culture, I find myself deeply moved by Kumar Sanu‘s poignant words. His journey spans decades of soulful melodies that have become an integral part of Indian cinema.

Known as a legendary figure in Indian music, Kumar Sanu is admired for his melodious voice and significant contributions to Bollywood films. In a recent conversation, the singer expressed concern about being less active lately, stating that composers aren’t offering him enough opportunities to sing in movies, despite his dedicated fanbase. He further remarked, “If the industry understands this, it’s good for them; otherwise, it’s their misfortune.”

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Sanu was questioned about his infrequent appearances in movies and he explained, “My journey has been going quite well so far, everyone respects me within the industry. However, the main issue is that people not only respect and love me, but they also listen to my songs… I’m unsure as to why they aren’t using my voice for more Hindi film songs.”

So far, my experience has been positive; I’m well-respected within the industry. What truly matters though, is that people not just admire and adore us, but also appreciate our music by listening to it. It confounds me as to why they don’t utilize my voice more often in Hindi films for additional songs.

When prompted for more details, he expressed his confusion about why, although he feels showered with love when around them, he seldom gets chances to showcase his singing skills. Sanu wonders if the affection might not be as sincere as it appears. However, he also noted that he is always treated kindly and respectfully. This leaves him puzzled as to why, given his vocal abilities, he isn’t offered opportunities to sing.

Additionally, he pondered if the creators had ever taken this into account, highlighting that he often plays to sold-out crowds and boasts a devoted fanbase. With several live shows scheduled for October and November, he expresses hope that the industry will acknowledge his success. However, should they fail to do so, it would be their loss.

One of Sanu’s most iconic tunes, “Tum Hi Ho” from the movie Aashiqui, is still widely remembered and adored as one of his career highlights. Known for his romantic ballads, songs like “Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai” from Saajan and “Tujhe Dekha To” from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge further solidify Kumar Sanu’s reputation. His enchanting voice continues to enthrall audiences, earning him the title of a cherished legend in Indian film industry.
