As a seasoned gamer and avid reality TV viewer, I’ve seen my fair share of rollercoasters – some thrilling, others downright turbulent. The Statler and Dempsey saga on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is one such ride that has left me hanging on for dear life.
In the latest episode of “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way,” Statler and Dempsey Wilkinson finally met, but their encounter was more argumentative than affectionate. The disagreement centered around Statler’s reluctance to be there, which seemed connected to the financial complications related to their van that have been puzzling us throughout the series. After the episode aired, Statler shared her viewpoint on social media, providing some insight into the situation.
90 Day Fiancé viewers, whether they watched the episode on TLC or through their Max subscription, have been critical of Statler. Following weeks of speculation about her relationship status with Dempsey after posting comments on social media, Statler used Instagram Stories (as reported by Reddit) to clarify why she seemed upset when seeing Dempsey at the airport.
Despite needing rest, you can’t pause the filming process – not even when you’re tired. This day was particularly long, and we hadn’t even started filming yet because it was morning in England when I arrived. I was aware that a full day of shooting was on the agenda (which indeed transpired), and at that point, I had already surpassed my limit of endurance. On the other hand, Dempsey was well-rested as she’d recently quit her job two weeks prior. Meanwhile, I was still juggling a full-time job.
Traveling from the U.S. to the UK is a lengthy trip, and there’s also a significant time difference involved. It’s easy to see why someone might not feel like shooting an entire day of 90 Day Fiancé footage right after arriving. Similarly, it’s understandable that Dempsey might feel hurt by Statler’s attitude considering how enthusiastic she appeared about the van life based on the backstage photos.
Participating in TLC’s franchise can sometimes be challenging, and it’s not uncommon for couples from the 90 Day series to separate after a few seasons. During the most recent episode of The Other Way, Statler revealed that she initially had no desire to join the show; she admitted this during her emotional discussion.
At first, Dempsey understood that I didn’t want to participate in the show. However, during my visit, she persuaded me to join again, claiming it would bring her joy. I held out on agreeing until the very last moment. I felt really disheartened because this decision meant I’d have to postpone my return to England for filming, and the entire production would be recorded – something that was challenging for me during the first season.
Statler and Dempsey’s debut on “90 Day Fiancé” was incredibly challenging, with one of the most dismal Valentine’s Day dates I’ve witnessed taking place during that season. Remarkably, they made it through Season 6 of “Before The 90 Days,” but their private lives were laid bare for viewers to scrutinize and criticize.
Being a reality TV personality often comes with its own set of challenges, as being featured on shows like “90 Day Fiancé” can sometimes catapult you into the spotlight online. It appears Statler has encountered some remarks suggesting she plays the role of a victim and shifts the blame onto Dempsey.
To those labeling me as ‘constant victim,’ if I wished to be seen as a victim, I would reveal the actual hardships in my past. However, there are numerous experiences I choose not to disclose. There are some deeply troubling matters I prefer to keep private. Rather, I focus on broadening people’s perspectives regarding adoption and neurodiversity issues. I am not a victim, so kindly refrain from spreading such nonsense.
It’s uncertain if the fan base will cool down, given their interactions with Statler during this season so far. On the other hand, Dempsey has primarily steered clear of discussing “90 Day Fiancé” on her Instagram account, instead focusing on her travels around the globe.
Her lack of comment regarding the season might suggest she has no intention of revisiting that topic, given its intrigue due to the claim she insisted on being part of the show. However, it’s possible that as Statler continues his remarks during the season, Dempsey may choose to address these issues publicly.
In the interim, let’s keep our fingers crossed as “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” unfolds further every Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET on TLC. However, considering the whispers about Statler and Dempsey’s storyline, I must admit my doubts about a joyful ending for them.
