Having followed their careers for years, it’s heartwarming to see them grow not just professionally, but also personally, expanding their family and creating a home filled with love and memories.
Living in New York, the renowned acting duo Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy are preparing to part ways with their four-bedroom Greek Revival house in the West Village, a home they’ve cherished for over ten years. This property was acquired by them in 2012, and it is now available for purchase at $9.75 million.
According to an initial report in The New York Times, the duo collaborated with Joan Krevlin, a co-founder of BKSK Architects, to renovate and bring a contemporary feel to a townhouse dating back to the 1880s. “The modernization has been remarkable while maintaining its original West Village character,” said Tamer Howard, the property’s realtor at Corcoran Group, speaking to The Times. Notable updates included shifting the kitchen from the front of the house to the rear and creating a more spacious, loft-like ambiance, particularly on the ground floor where an open layout connects the living room, dining area, and kitchen (equipped with Miele appliances, automated blinds, underfloor heating, and a sliding glass wall that leads to a terrace).
As someone who has lived in various apartments and houses throughout my life, I can confidently say that this residence stands out as one of the most luxurious homes I’ve ever encountered. The four-and-a-half bathrooms alone are a game changer for anyone looking for ultimate comfort and convenience. Having a custom-built home office is a dream come true for those who work from home, like myself. The den/media room provides an ideal space to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
On top of the building lies a terrace boasting panoramic city vistas, featuring the One World Trade Center, as well as an outdoor kitchen equipped with an Ooni Koda pizza oven and an ice dispenser. Meanwhile, below ground level, you’ll find a wine cellar and laundry facilities in the basement.
As a gamer, I’m sharing this: Howard has spilled the beans to the New York Times that Dancy and I are saying goodbye to our townhouse because we’re craving more room for our three expanding little ones.
