Vikram Bhatt says Alia Bhatt would not be interested in doing his films: ‘Our relationship isn’t like that’

As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I find myself intrigued by the dynamics of the Bhatt family and their respective careers. While Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor are both rising stars in their own rights, it’s fascinating to see how their paths have diverged even within the same family tree.

Alia Bhatt is widely recognized as one of Bollywood’s most gifted actresses, admired for both her outstanding acting skills and selective movie roles. Despite working with her father, Mahesh Bhatt, on Sadak, she hasn’t collaborated with her uncle, Vikram Bhatt yet. Lately, Vikram clarified the reason behind this, expressing that he doesn’t believe he creates films that would appeal to Alia’s interests. He added, “She has her own unique career path and preferences.”

In an interview with News 18, director Vikram Bhatt clarified that he hasn’t worked with actress Alia Bhatt because he never envisioned collaborating with her or asked his brother, Mahesh Bhatt, to include her in his projects. He emphasized that his professional relationship with Mahesh is independent of their family ties and that the themes in his movies might not appeal to Alia’s interests. Additionally, he stated that Alia is pursuing her unique career trajectory and he has never proposed her for a role through Mahesh. In summary, there have been no requests or intentions to involve Alia in Vikram Bhatt’s projects.

Vikram Bhatt applauded Janhvi Kapoor for carving out her own niche in an industry predominantly run by men. He admired her resilience and bold role selections, irrespective of whether her movies were hits or misses. Bhatt specifically noted that unlike many others, Janhvi has chosen not to depend on being associated with prominent stars or taking supporting roles. Instead, he stated, “She’s made a point of not following the path of clinging onto a star or serving as the secondary actress to a third lead.”

In response to those who criticize Janhvi as a nepotistic case in Bollywood, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt emphasized her bold project choices instead. He pointed out that her movies are tailored to display her skills and offer a stage for her talent to shine. Vikram admires her dedication and believes that her background holds no significance when it comes to her accomplishments.

Talking about how Janhvi challenges the traditional definition of success, Vikram Bhatt commended her for choosing unconventional and creative ventures. He pointed out that her method is far more significant than simply chasing success by taking up roles with minimal personal resonance, which often results in a deceptive sense of accomplishment.

For those unfamiliar, Vikram Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt have collaborated on numerous movies together. Initially, Vikram started his journey by aiding Mahesh on productions like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Junoon. Later, he made his directorial debut with Jaanam, following which they jointly produced hit films such as Ghulam, Raaz, 1920, Haunted – 3D, and many others.

Simultaneously in their professional lives, Vikram Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt have collaborated on a chilling horror movie titled Bloody Ishq. This thriller can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar at present.

Alia Bhatt is gearing up for the launch of her upcoming movie titled “Jigra,” an action-packed thriller that revolves around a prison break. This film is helmed by Vasan Bala and jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Alia’s own production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions. The film will have its premiere on September 27, 2024. Interestingly, this is Alia’s first collaboration with Vedang Raina from The Archies. Apart from Jigra, she is also busy working on projects like Alpha and Love & War.

Janhvi Kapoor recently appeared in the thriller movie titled Ulajh, portraying a diplomat character. This movie is currently being screened in cinemas. Coming up next, she will feature in Devara: Part 1 alongside Jr NTR, and also in the romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari alongside Varun Dhawan.
