Warner Bros. Discovery Shutters Cartoon Network Website

As a dedicated fan who grew up with the vibrant world of Cartoon Network, this recent development leaves me feeling a bit like Scooby-Doo stumbling upon a mystery masked by modernization. The closure of the CartoonNetwork.com website feels like a blow to the nostalgia-loving community that has been following these shows since their inception.

Cartoon Network‘s website is no more.

Starting from this Friday, when you visit CartoonNetwork.com, you’ll find a popup encouraging users to sign up for Max, Warner Bros. Discovery‘s primary streaming platform. The message states that if you’re seeking episodes of your beloved Cartoon Network series, you can discover what’s streamable on Max (subscription needed). Additionally, it mentions that cable subscribers can carry on watching through the linear channel and associated apps.

After clicking to close the pop-up message, viewers are directed to the Cartoon Network channel on Max. The system will continue to remind them to subscribe to the streaming service.

At the moment of publication, it seems that only Cartoon Network’s site is experiencing issues for channels under Warner Bros. Discovery; on the other hand, sites such as TNT, TBS, HGTV, Discovery, American Heroes, Science Channel, and Adult Swim (Cartoon Network’s mature counterpart) were all functional early Friday morning.

As a dedicated gamer of Cartoon Network, I’m all about the shows and social media where the action’s hottest! That’s where our fans are most hooked and there’s immense potential for more fun. Sure, we’ve retired some digital products, but don’t sweat it! You can still connect with us through the Cartoon Network app, as well as partner apps on devices like Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and mobile devices. Plus, hang out with us on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. And if you just can’t get enough, don’t forget to catch your favorite Cartoon Network series every day from 6 a.m.-5 p.m., right here on the channel!

Closing down the Cartoon Network platform is due to Warner Bros. Discovery incurring a $9.1 billion reduction in value from their networks division (which encompasses Cartoon Network and additional cable channels) in their quarterly earnings, partly because of a weak advertising market.

Essentially, Paramount took a similar action back in June, significantly reducing the content on platforms like Comedy Central (which housed an extensive library of The Daily Show episodes, among other treasures), TV Land, and several other cable channels they manage. This move appears to be motivated primarily by cost reduction across all these channels.
