Kit Harington on Final ‘Game of Thrones’ Season: “I Think There Were Mistakes Made”

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Westeros, I must say that Kit Harington‘s reflections on the final season of Game of Thrones resonate deeply with me. Like many fans, I felt a tad disappointed when the series ended, but hearing the actor himself admit to feeling exhausted and spent brings a sense of closure. It seems we both went through the same journey – him as Jon Snow, and I as a dedicated viewer.

Approximately five years following the debut of the last season for “Game of Thrones,” star Kit Harington has spoken candidly regarding the finale’s conclusion, which some viewers felt was hastily wrapped up in the popular fantasy series that ran for many years.

In a fresh interview with GQ, Richard Madden (formerly known as Jon Snow), shared his thoughts on the latest ending of Game of Thrones, as well as the recent pause in production for a potential spin-off series.

“Regarding the conclusion of ‘Thrones’, it seems to me that perhaps the reason it felt a bit rushed is because everyone was simply so drained, we had no more energy left for additional episodes. While I comprehend why some viewers may feel this way and might share their sentiments, I’m not entirely convinced there was any other option. After all, if you look at images of me during that final season, I appear exhausted and depleted. Frankly, I don’t believe I had the energy for another season.”

“Each person has the right to their own viewpoint. Personally, I believe errors were made as the plot progressed, and I found some creative decisions to be less successful.”

As a long-time fan of Game of Thrones, I was genuinely excited to hear about the spinoff series featuring Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, but my enthusiasm quickly waned when I learned that the project had been cancelled. Having followed the development of this show for years, it seems that its failure to gain traction is a testament to the challenges faced by creators trying to bring new stories to life in the world of Westeros. With so many fans eagerly anticipating more from this universe, it’s disappointing to see yet another potential opportunity slip away. However, I remain hopeful that one day we will return to the land of ice and fire for a fresh adventure.

He shared that HBO approached him with an idea, asking if he would consider it. Initially, his response was no. However, he pondered over the possibility of telling a compelling story about a soldier post-war. He felt there might still be something meaningful to share in a restricted manner. For several years, they exchanged ideas and refined the concept. Unfortunately, nothing sparked enough enthusiasm between them.

In simpler terms, Harrington decided to withdraw from Snow project with HBO, expressing his concern, “If we continue to advance and refine it, we might end up with a less-than-satisfactory result. That’s definitely something nobody wants.”

Recently, I’ve had the thrill of joining the cast of another captivating HBO series, “Industry”. In this new role, I step into the shoes of a CEO for a revolutionary green tech company.
