Why Olympic Gymnastics Fans Think The Pommel Horse Hero Is Headed To Dancing With The Stars

As a long-time gymnastics enthusiast and someone who has followed the sport since the days of Kerri Strug and Simone Biles, I can confidently say that Stephen Nedoroscik’s performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics was nothing short of extraordinary. His epic routine on the pommel horse not only showcased his incredible skill but also brought a sense of joy and excitement to millions of viewers worldwide.

Every fourth summer, our nation unites to support Team USA during the Olympics, either attending or streaming them online. The Paris Games of 2024 were no exception. This year was filled with noteworthy incidents such as the U.S. women’s rugby team securing their inaugural medal, Simone Biles breaking records as the most decorated female gymnast, and undeniably, Stephen Nedoroscik gaining nationwide fame after his captivating pommel horse gymnastics performance.

Though the Olympics have concluded, spectators aren’t quite ready to part ways with gymnast Nedoroscik. His extraordinary display, crucial in clinching a bronze medal for the men’s team and ending their long wait on the podium, continues to captivate social media users. In fact, people are drawing parallels between this pommel horse prodigy and an iconic character from American Dad. Fortunately, we may see more of Nedoroscik on our screens soon as he is rumored to participate in Dancing with the Stars.

Enthusiasts of gymnastics, known for their unwavering support, sparked discussions about his possible participation in the upcoming season of “Dancing With The Stars” airing this autumn on the 2024 TV lineup, following the widespread popularity of his performance. Social media buzzed with comments such as:

  • I feel like pommel horse guy is the frontrunner for the Olympian slot on Dancing with the Stars . Who else is in the running? @officialdwts –@TheSeanMarier
  • I can picture it already: Stephen Nedoroscik dancing the Samba and opening the number by doing flairs on a pommel horse-like prop in front of the judges and a curtain of lights on Dancing with the Stars. –@poorlawyer
  • I know odds are that Jordan Chiles will be on #DWTS this season, but may a present a dark horse gymnastics alternate: Pommel Horse Guy. #Olympics -@amystamm14
  • I’m calling it now…Stephen the Pommel Horse Guy will be on Dancing with the Stars this season –@aimeeb11

Initially seen as an optimistic idea, there appears to be strong reasoning indicating that our pommel horse champion might transition to the dance floor.

Previously, Nedoroscik was planned for the Gold Over America Tour alongside Olympic gymnasts exhibiting their talents worldwide in packed arenas, as NBC New York detailed. However, viewers such as @Gymnastics_Now have pointed out that he’s no longer on the roster (you can find this on the Gold Over America website). Consequently, it appears his upcoming schedule is entirely open. Furthermore, with his scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 13th, the evidence seems quite compelling.

Besides that, it’s worth noting that the popular dance competition show typically includes an Olympian as a contestant following the conclusion of the games. Given the tremendous audience excitement following the Paris Games, it seems plausible that this trend will continue this year. However, the selection pool for Olympic gymnasts is quite limited this time around.

After the Olympic Games in Rio and Tokyo, both Biles and Lee have previously appeared on “Dancing With The Stars.” It’s speculated that the show may invite another member of the women’s gymnastics team, such as Jordan Chiles. However, given that she is currently vying for an individual bronze medal, it appears that the UCLA gymnast might not desire any further spotlight.

The Internet Can’t Get Enough Of Olympic Breakdancer ‘Raygun’ And Her Viral Performance

In Olympic years, the women’s gymnastics team is often a regular on the dance competition show, but there has never been a male gymnast participating. Could it be perfect timing for Nedoroscik to break yet another record by being the first male gymnast to perform on that dance floor? If his famous ear-tug moment means we get to see more of him, I’m all for it!

It’s still unclear who will be on Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars”, as the cast hasn’t been revealed yet. If the Pommel Horse Hero isn’t chosen to participate, it would surprise me greatly, and if he does join, I’m planning to vote more enthusiastically than ever before.

On Tuesday, September 17th, “Dancing With The Stars” makes its comeback on ABC! If you’d prefer to watch it online, you can do so by subscribing to Disney+.
