As a seasoned gamer who has been through numerous gaming generations and countless Call of Duty titles, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as I bid farewell to Ground War and Invasion in Modern Warfare 3. These modes have provided me with countless hours of enjoyment and camaraderie with my fellow gamers.


With Black Ops 6 approaching, Modern Warfare 3 is preparing for a dramatic conclusion to its consecutive installments in the series. After two years, familiar characters will be heading towards retirement, and popular game modes from previous releases may no longer be available.

According to Treyarch, they’re crafting an array of enjoyable playstyles for Call of Duty. However, as they prepare for the finale, certain modes from Modern Warfare 3 are being retired. Farewell, you served us well.

There’s yet another season of content left for Modern Warfare 3, featuring three significant updates. These updates are set to complete what is arguably one of the finest live-service Call of Duty games ever produced.

However, if you prefer expansive gameplay modes such as Ground War and Invasion, it seems those experiences may no longer be available to you.

Through Reddit, Sledgehammer Games announced that they are no longer planning to develop new maps for the larger modes like Invasion and Ground War, as they haven’t received significant updates since their launch. In a straightforward statement, the developers simply said, “We currently don’t have plans for any more Invasion or Ground War map releases.”

Fans swiftly responded with disapproval, devaluing the comments and asserting that the features had never been intended to be included. One frustrated fan even declared bluntly, ‘There was no such plan at all’>”.

For nearly a year, and across five different seasons, there wasn’t any mention of the game mode anywhere, not even once. It was as if the studio had gone completely quiet about it. Some users suggested that they could simply carry over the maps from Modern Warfare 2, but it seems like these suggestions might be falling on unresponsive ears.
