As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the prospect of a live-action Tangled remake has me more excited than a level boss that drops rare loot. The original film is relatively recent, and the idea of bringing back Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore in some capacity feels like finding a hidden chest full of Elixirs of Life!
Disney’s live-action adaptations of its classic animations have formed a distinct franchise, boasting a mix of successful and less-than-stellar films. However, the momentum behind these productions shows no signs of abating. Among the upcoming Disney releases within the next few months, we can expect both “Mufasa: The Lion King,” a prequel to the live-action “Lion King” film, and the long-awaited “Snow White” movie starring Rachel Zegler. Additionally, a live-action version of “Moana” is in production, and “Hercules” is currently being developed. There are several other remakes rumored to be in development, but none are as eagerly anticipated as “Tangled.”
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been following the buzz about Disney potentially remaking Tangled, a tale that’s been circulating for quite some time now. Even though Disney hasn’t officially confirmed the project during their D23 Entertainment Showcase, it doesn’t seem to have dampened fans’ enthusiasm one bit, as they’ve been actively speculating and even casting the hypothetical film.

As a cinephile who has grown up watching Disney classics and being captivated by their magic, I can’t help but feel nostalgic about the iconic characters that have graced our screens for decades. However, as someone who also appreciates innovation and fresh perspectives in storytelling, I am genuinely excited by the prospect of seeing original stars reprise their roles in modern Disney adaptations.
Levi and Moore are essentially the creators or originators of the story “Tangled“. They could potentially play the roles of King and Queen, who are Rapunzel’s biological parents. This role would be more like a brief appearance or cameo as their characters only appear at the start and end of the original animated film without any dialogue. In a live-action remake, these parts might be expanded, but they wouldn’t necessarily become significant or leading characters.
There is one other “parent” in the movie that could also work: has anybody suggested casting Mandy Moore as Mother Gothel? It would give her a bigger role, let her sing at least one song, and would completely turn the casting upside down, but it could be a lot of fun. It would leave us with a need to find a role for Zachary Levi, but I’m sure we can come up with something. He can run the Snuggly Duckling.
A variety of actors’ names are being tossed around as potential candidates for the main roles in the proposed remake of Tangled. Zachary Levi even shares his preference for who should play Flynn. It seems like only a matter of time before this movie becomes a reality, and Disney will eventually need to decide on actors to fill these roles.
