As a gamer who’s been following the thrilling journey of Jesse Lee Soffer’s career, I must say it’s been quite the rollercoaster ride! From the gritty streets of Chicago to the international battlefields against drug cartels, and now, leading the team on “FBI: International”. It’s like he’s playing a high-stakes game of chess, moving his pieces across the globe!

Fans of “Chicago P.D.” might have hoped to see Jesse Lee Soffer’s character, Jay Halstead, appear during Tracy Spiridakos’ final episode, but alas, Jay is missing from the crucial scenes towards the end. It has been two seasons since Jay left Chicago, and he chose to quit his job due to his profound disillusionment with the unclear ethical landscape of his work. Seeking a change, he returned to military service. Currently, he’s stationed in Bolivia, leading a team that is battling drug traffickers head-on, dismantling cartels bit by bit. Regrettably, Jay and Hailey’s marriage has suffered a similar fate, with the distance causing their union to dissolve through divorce.

Softly confided to Variety that his decision to depart from the procedural series was fueled by his ambition to explore uncharted territories. “At some point, you become so familiar with the character that there’s not much left that can surprise or change,” he admitted. “I yearned for growth and expansion, and we each have only one life to live. If I had re-joined, it would have been for another three years. By the time the show ended, I would have turned 40. I pondered, ‘Perhaps it’s time to take a risk.'”

Since parting ways with the drama, Soffer has moved into directing, taking charge of two episodes for “Chicago P.D.”, one during Season 10 and another during Season 11. His acting assignments had been scarce – until this spring. That’s when CBS made an announcement that Soffer would step in as the lead of the investigative team on “FBI: International”, replacing Luke Kleintank.

Jesse Lee Soffer is set to join the cast of “FBI: International” as a regular character this fall, according to TVLine’s exclusive report. His role will be that of Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell. This character appears to have a roguish side but also demonstrates an unconventional approach to cases and exceptional field instincts. All these traits serve to help him achieve his primary goal – swiftly upholding justice.

In the upcoming days, it remains to be seen how Fly Team adapts to their latest addition, given that they recently experienced a significant loss when Scott Forrester, played by Luke Kleintank, departed from the team. According to Kleintank, family commitments and frequent travel for filming in Budapest were the primary factors behind his departure; on the other hand, Forrester leaves the team to assist his mother with a personal mission.

It seems that Soffer is set to embark on the exciting journey and fresh beginning he’s longed for. On October 15, fans can look forward to encountering Wes Mitchell when FBI: International makes its comeback with a brand-new season.
