Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 gets delayed to 2025, but it’s not all bad news

As a devoted fan who’s been eagerly awaiting Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 since the first game left me longing for more, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing the news of its delay to 2025. On one hand, it’s like being told that your favorite band is postponing their world tour – you’re disappointed, but deep down, you know the wait will be worth it when they deliver an even better performance.

We might have been able to see it from a mile away, but it still hurts all the same when we see it in writing – Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been delayed to 2025.

Initially, Warhorse Studio had planned to release the sequel for their medieval role-playing game series towards the end of 2024; however, they never provided a specific date. Now, it appears that we’ll be embarking on an adventure within the vast open world of the sequel in just a few short months.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 gets a new release date

From Warhorse Studios comes an update! The formal launch date for #KCD2 is set for February 11, 2025. It’s going to be a while, but we have plenty to unveil until then, starting with:

Although there’s some waiting involved, the good news is that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has a confirmed release date: February 11, 2025. Since this exciting game is expected to drop in the early part of the new year, the delay becomes a little easier to stomach.

Over the past seven years, Warhorse’s team size has exploded nearly exponentially. From around 90 people who launched the initial game, the team has grown to over 250 members now. Consequently, the upcoming sequel is expected to be more expansive and superior than its predecessor. The team aims to devote a bit more time polishing the details, ensuring a seamless launch experience for fans.

The news that the launch is being postponed comes when the developer is particularly busy, as they were planning to unveil their game during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event. In the subsequent days, the studio was also scheduled to exhibit a 20-minute gameplay segment, followed by immediate press reviews on August 21st.

At an earlier preview event this month, I had the opportunity to sneak peek a portion of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, on behalf of GGRecon. I’ll be ready to share my thoughts about it after the embargo lifts on August 21st.

At Gamescom 2024, Warhorse Studios is planning to offer a hands-on game demo for those who wish to give it a spin themselves.

Even though it can be disappointing when a game’s release date gets delayed from one year to another, there’s still plenty happening with Kingdom Come Deliverance to keep fans excited. As the second half of 2024 begins to fill up with new releases, perhaps it’s not so bad that this year has fewer titles to add to our game collections!
