The Battle of Polytopia's Aquarion Tribe is getting a massive rework

  • The Battle of Polytopia’s Aquarion tribe is getting a major rework
  • All your land units are now amphibious, and Aquarion can build on water
  • You can also uncover ruined cities in the ocean and raise them up for new building space!

As a longtime strategy game enthusiast who’s spent countless hours navigating the intricate worlds of games like Total War, the news about The Battle of Polytopia’s Aquarion tribe rework has me more excited than a sea lion chasing a school of fish!

As a dedicated strategy gamer, I can’t help but notice that as games grow in scale, managing all factions fairly becomes quite a task. Speaking from my experience with Total War, it’s refreshing to see that the devoted fans of The Battle of Polytopia are finally getting some long-overdue attention. The developers have announced a significant overhaul for the Aquarion tribe, bringing a sweet taste of rework to the game.

In the beginning, this maritime group was among the initial tribes introduced, and as a result, an overhaul of their fundamental attributes has been necessary for quite some time. The most significant alteration, however, is the incorporation of mermaid tails to all units of Aquarion on land. This transformation makes them exceptionally swift in water, but relatively slow on land, resulting in either strictly aquatic or amphibious units within their forces.

Furthermore, a novel type of terrain named “Flooded” has been introduced. This terrain can be traversed by both ground and naval units, although sea units will move slower through it. You’ll have the opportunity to develop technology enabling you to flood land areas, bringing your units directly to the enemy’s front doorstep. This allows you to indulge in your dreams of causing floods.

Under the sea

Absolutely! I’d be happy to clarify that for you. Now, let me answer a question you might have: it is indeed possible to construct structures on water, referring to any buildings typically found on land, on water tiles. Moreover, with some effort, you can unearth submerged ruins and establish your own cities at sea. This process will transform the surrounding tiles into coastal terrains!

In this update, Aquarion is set to transform into the pseudo-Atlantis faction as originally planned, offering players an engaging faction to control and a formidable adversary to challenge. For comprehensive information about these changes, visit the game’s Steam page where you can find a thorough list of updates.
