AUDREY NUNA’s New Single “Suckin Up” Is Art

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for music that mirrors real-life experiences, I find Audrey Nuna’s latest single “Suckin Up” to be an exhilarating blend of the familiar and the fantastical – much like navigating the gritty streets of downtown New York City while piloting a spaceship through a cosmos far away.

As a gamer, every tune I create transports me into its unique universe. For my latest single “Suckin Up”, I’ve woven together the gritty streets of my old neighborhood – the heart of downtown NYC – with the vast, interstellar landscapes of distant galaxies.

The contrast showcases NUNA’s artistic talent too, a fact that is strikingly clear in the brief, approximately 2-minute song where the artist voices her reflections on the shallow nature of contemporary culture.

She expresses, “Indeed, I speak eloquently and yet I am foul-smelling, if you’re feeling envious about my physique, don’t voice your opinions,” she sings in the first verse, leading to the chorus. “I need a restart, no need for affectionate gestures towards a puppy, cut the strings / Attempting to capitalize on me, I’m as untouchable as Mona Lisa.”

The song is complemented by an eye-catching music video, where NUNA is seen exploring the bustling streets of Lower Manhattan’s Chinatown, and also showcased in another futuristic outfit inspired by fashion as a weapon within a dreamlike cosmos.

“She expressed her gratitude on Instagram for every drop of blood, sweat, tears, and even effort put into creating the song’s video. The process of making it in New York and New Jersey brought back feelings of youthfulness and innocence, which she is thankful for.”

The third single for the year titled “Suckin Up” indicates that a new album from the singer may be released soon. In an interview with TopMob earlier this year, she described her upcoming project as: “There are moments when maturing seems romantic and innocent, and my next project, which I’ve nicknamed ‘a liquid breakfast’, is very much that. However, it also delves into much darker tones, both sonically and thematically.”
