As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of music-listening experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the news of A$AP Rocky’s album delay is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, six years is an eternity for a rap titan like him to keep his fans waiting. But on the other, knowing the caliber of artists he’s collaborating with – from Tyler, The Creator and Morrissey to Pharrell and Tim Burton himself – I can only imagine that this album will be nothing short of legendary.
Initially, it was planned for A$AP Rocky’s fourth album to release by the end of this month, specifically on August 30th. However, recent updates indicate that the release date has been delayed.
The Harlem-based rapper recently discussed the postponement of his upcoming album cover story in Billboard, stating on X that fans will now have to wait until fall to listen to the new record. He explained this delay is due to issues with leaks and sample clearances, as he wants to create the best album possible after six years. The rapper also revealed that big-name collaborators such as Tyler, the Creator, Morrissey, Pharrell, Mike Dean, Hitkidd, Madlib, Metro Boomin, and The Alchemist have contributed to his upcoming album. In addition, he shared an exciting encounter with director Tim Burton; the Beetlejuice director seemed to appreciate the new music, commenting that he didn’t realize the rapper made such music.
It is anticipated that Rocky’s new album titled “Don’t Be Dumb” will come out this fall; however, a specific release date has not been announced as of now.
Leaks and delays in obtaining samples are hindering the release of my album. It’s been six years, and I’m eager to create the greatest album possible. I apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience.
