Bill Maher Is Confused Why Charli XCX Labeled Kamala Harris “Brat”: “It Sounds Like Trump”

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experience under my belt, I must confess that I find myself perplexed by this “Brat Summer” phenomenon that Bill Maher seems to be struggling with. While I’ve battled alien invasions, saved princesses from dragons, and navigated post-apocalyptic wastelands, the nuances of internet slang seem to elude me sometimes.

Bill Maher has come to understand that his vocabulary lacks up-to-date internet jargon, particularly the term “Brat Summer,” following his month-long absence from Real Time.

During a conversation with CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins on their recent broadcast, the host sought clarification about the popular trend that emerged following Charli XCX’s release of her album “Brat” in June, which has been dominating social media platforms lately.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, it seems like they’re calling Kamala ‘brat.’ Bill Maher put that out there to Collins, and her response was, “You’re feeling a bit green with envy, aren’t you?”

Following Maher’s explanation that he wasn’t feeling envious, he then inquired his guest about her opinion on whether it was a shrewd decision for Kamala Harris‘ campaign to adopt the label, a concept he admittedly found puzzling, which has sparked TikTok dance crazes, internet memes, and fashion trends.

Collins commented, “I believe when trying to attract young voters, who typically don’t vote in large quantities, they are embracing this challenge.” He added, “Not everyone on the Harris campaign, nor those in the White House, might have fully grasped the term ‘brat.’ It’s not something commonly understood in Washington, where I resided for nearly a decade. However, I feel they adopted this term as a strategy to appeal to younger voters. If older voters don’t comprehend it, it’s not significant.”

The CNN reporter pointed out that both the Harris campaign and Donald Trump are making efforts to connect with younger generations, not just the Harris team alone.

“He hosts numerous lesser-known podcasts, and his political campaign is attempting to target similar audiences, even though they may have different viewpoints. I believe their strategy is to engage with younger demographics through various platforms like memes or podcasts.”

To gain a deeper understanding of the “brat” character, Maher additionally looked up Charli XCX’s explanation: “She’s much like a girl who can be a tad disorganized, enjoys socializing and occasionally lets slip some thoughtless remarks. She’s authentic yet might experience emotional turmoil. However, she parties her way through it, is candid and blunt. Somewhat unpredictable, as she tends to make impulsive decisions.”

Yet, the formal definition of the term made the comedian understand, “I don’t desire my leader to be like this.”

As a gamer, I’d say Trump comes off as quite the “troublesome kid” to me, given the definition. It really resonates with me; he seems to embody that character perfectly. In my opinion, he’s nothing but a “troublesome kid.”

Ever since Charli XCX unveiled her latest album on June 7th, the “brat” culture has been resonating strongly with Gen Z and millennials, as well as the official Kamala HQ social media platforms. In fact, they’ve even switched their banner image on their platform (previously known as Twitter) to reflect the vibrant lime green and Arial font style of her album “Brat”.

The recent episode of Real Time saw Maher hosting James Carville and Dan Crenshaw as his fellow guests.
