Aamir Khan followed THIS strategy to keep Lagaan cast away from 'women and booze' on sets, reveals co-actor Yashpal Sharma

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for understanding the human psyche and the art of storytelling, I find Aamir Khan’s approach to filmmaking nothing short of inspiring. His ability to foster unity, camaraderie, and focus on set is truly commendable. The anecdote about his nightly card games not only serves as a testament to his leadership skills but also underscores the importance of creating a conducive environment for creativity to flourish.

One of Aamir Khan’s most cherished and memorable films, Lagaan, in Bollywood, has a fascinating backstory. Not long ago, Yashpal Sharma, who portrayed Lakha in the Academy Award-nominated movie, disclosed one of Khan’s ingenious strategies during filming. Sharma shared that Khan took steps to isolate his fellow actors from alcohol, arguments, and diversions, which significantly boosted the movie’s achievement.

During a recent chat with Friday Talkies on YouTube, he shared memories of Aamir Khan often gathering everyone on set for an evening card game. This was usually done after Khan had finished his tea from a paper cup while seated on the ground. In simpler terms, he would set up a makeshift card club in the dirt and invite everyone to join him each night.

It was suggested that perhaps Khan intentionally kept the team preoccupied and free from diversions such as females, liquor, and disagreements to maintain focus. This was observed to have played a role in fostering unity, fervor, and late-night camaraderie on set, all of which contributed significantly to the film’s triumph.

Yashpal mentioned that the connection they formed on set remained incredibly strong over time, leading Aamir Khan to host annual card parties during Diwali. He shared stories of their shared enjoyment of golgappas, movie-watching, cricket games, and joint rehearsals. Furthermore, he highlighted Aamir’s humility by noting that he extends invitations for these Diwali celebrations to the same group of friends.

Sharma further shared that when he got the call about the movie, he steeled himself for potential disappointment. He assumed Aamir might be haughty, given his past encounters with celebrities. Interestingly, some alumni from the National School of Drama had similar demeanors. Yet, to his delight, he discovered that Aamir was an exceptionally kind individual overall.

In the professional realm, Khan is set to appear alongside Genelia D’Souza in a new project titled “Sitaare Zameen Par.” According to an article from Hindustan Times, this film will concentrate on Down Syndrome, much like how Taare Zameen Par addressed another societal stigma. Khan intends to use this movie as a platform to bring attention to yet another condition often misunderstood by society.

The report further detailed that Khan uncovered a deeply moving tale concerning Down Syndrome and its impact on those who live with it. His aim is to tackle this topic delicately, and he aspires to make a difference by advocating for equal rights for those with the condition.
