Director Denis Villeneuve will present a two-part screening of “Dune” on an enormous IMAX screen during the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
On September 10th, Denis Villeneuve, a frequent attendee of TIFF, will present a screening of “Dune: Part One” at the Scotiabank Theatre. Following an intermission, he will show “Dune: Part Two” and hold a Q&A session to discuss his creative process in adapting Frank Herbert’s epic saga for the big screen.
In 2021, the remake of “Dune” featured Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, and Zendaya. Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” earned over $402 million globally at the box office, an impressive figure during the pandemic era, as it was also released simultaneously on HBO Max.
The much-anticipated second part of “Dune,” which arrived in cinemas earlier this year after a significant wait, boasts a nearly three-hour runtime and features the reappearance of actors like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin. Additionally, newcomers Austin Butler and Florence Pugh make their debut in this film.
In the continuation of Dune: Part Two, we find Timothée Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, continuing his journey alongside the Fremen, pursuing vengeance against those responsible for his family’s demise. Simultaneously, he embarks on a mission that could potentially safeguard the entire universe.
All told, the two-part Dune production from Legendary and Warner Bros., presented by TIFF, is anticipated to span approximately 400 minutes when shown at the downtown Imax theater. Starting August 28th, tickets for this public screening will become available. To attend both films as part of the festival package, viewers will need to purchase a ticket.
