22-year-old badminton player Lakshya Sen recently missed out on winning the bronze medal during the Paris Olympics 2024. Notably, this marked the first time an Indian male shuttler reached the semifinals of the Olympics. Following his consecutive losses in the tournament, Sen’s mentor and badminton legend Prakash Padukone’s daughter, actress Deepika Padukone, expressed her support and consoled Lakshya. He disclosed these details during a recent interview.
In a chat with Humans of Bombay, Lakshya Sen mentioned that following his match, Deepika Padukone made a call to encourage him. He explained about Deepika, saying, “She phoned me and said, ‘It’s alright; don’t stress. You played well’.”
Lakshya Sen, who was deeply disappointed following his loss and is still grappling with the fact he didn’t secure a medal for India, referred to Prakash Padukone as both his mentor and guiding figure. The budding shuttler expressed joy whenever he has the chance to consult or discuss openly with the Padukones whenever he needs advice or a relaxed conversation.
Previously, Lakshya Sen had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day. While being honored alongside India’s Paris Olympics athletes, Sen shared that his coach Padukone confiscated his mobile phone during matches to aid him in staying concentrated, as reported by IANS.
Recently, Deepika Padukone had dinner with Ranveer Singh’s family which included her father-in-law Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, mother-in-law Anju Bhavnani, and sister-in-law Ritika Bhavnani. During this evening out, she was also spotted with Lakshya Sen.
At the moment, Deepika is happily going through her pregnancy period. Lately, she’s been seen quite frequently in public, usually for dinner dates and family excursions. Her anticipated first child with her spouse, actor Ranveer Singh, is due to arrive in September of this year.
In terms of her professional life, Deepika Padukone recently appeared in the movie “Kalki 2898 AD,” directed by Nag Ashwin, which was released earlier this year. This film also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Disha Patani, and other stars.
Deepika Padukone is set to star in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film, “Singham Again.” In this movie, she will portray the character of ACP Shakti Shetty Bhalerao.
