Yankees, Knicks, Nets and Rangers to Stream In One App In New Joint Venture

As a die-hard New York sports enthusiast with decades of fandom under my belt, I can’t help but be thrilled about the new Gotham Sports App. The idea of having all my beloved teams – Yankees, Nets, Knicks, and Rangers – just a click away in one app is nothing short of revolutionary!

To stir up the business strategies of local sports networks in the nation’s largest television market, YES Network and MSG Networks are teaming up to introduce a unified app, The Gotham Sports App. This innovative platform will consolidate all their live games and content into a single hub for easy access.

This autumn, the app belonging to the networks that broadcast The New York Yankees and Brooklyn Nets’ games (MSG Networks) and also the home of the New York Knicks and Rangers (MSG Networks), will be released. This is before the commencement of the NBA and NHL seasons.

In the application, users can choose to sign up for either YES or MSG+ at a monthly cost of $24.99 and $29.99 respectively, or they can opt for both services under the “Gotham Package” at a price of $41.99 per month. For those with Pay-TV subscriptions, access to the app is free of charge.

Gotham Sports represents a significant change in the way Regional Sports Networks function during live streaming. Up until now, some networks like YES and MSG have independently launched their individual streaming platforms, while others such as Diamond Sports have attempted to roll out streaming across their entire coverage area. Essentially, Gotham Sports aims to unite several RSNs in the New York market to collaborate on a joint streaming solution, thereby simplifying the experience for sports enthusiasts.

Earlier this year, it was announced that YES and MSG Networks would team up in a joint venture called Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment (GAME), which focuses on streaming media and also offers support to other regional sports networks. The initial product from this partnership is the Gotham Sports App.

“Andrea Greenberg, president and CEO of MSG Networks, expressed her enthusiasm by stating that they are thrilled to introduce, via their innovative app named GAME, a platform where fans residing in the New York region can enjoy watching their beloved teams. The growing number of channels broadcasting popular sports content has led to fragmentation. However, with The Gotham Sports App, fans of our teams will have a single, convenient location for accessing sporting events from MSG Networks and the YES Network within the New York area.”

“Jon Litner, CEO of YES Network, announced that the freshly launched Gotham Sports App will utilize top-tier technology from GAME to improve the overall fan experience exponentially. This app will bring the best New York sports content together in a single platform,” said Jon Litner. “The app is offered for free to our distributors’ authenticated customers, providing a centralized digital location for our programming services and catering to fans of some of the most legendary teams across all sports.”
