Netflix Unveils Teaser Trailer, Premiere Date for Timo Tjahjanto’s Action Film ‘The Shadow Strays’

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for action-packed stories and a soft spot for Asian cinema, I can hardly contain my excitement over Netflix’s upcoming release, “The Shadow Strays.” With Timo Tjahjanto at the helm, this film promises to be a masterpiece of suspense and action.

Netflix unveiled the initial sneak peek trailer and launch date for Timo Tjahjanto’s eagerly awaited action movie, titled “The Shadow Strays“.

The Indonesian movie follows the tale of CodeName 13, a young hitman who is put on leave after a mission turns sour. The tagline goes, “During her free time, [13] develops a connection with Monji, a child whose mother was taken by a criminal network. When Monji vanishes, 13 sets out to locate him, risking defiance against her mentor and the group she’s part of, known as ‘The Shadows.'”

The Shadow Strays” is set to appear on October 17th for streaming, but it will make its initial appearance in the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness sidebar this coming September first.

The cast includes Aurora Ribero, Hana Malasan, Ali Fikry, Adipati Dolken and Andri Mashadi.

Known as a major figure in Asian cinema, Tjahjanto, who collaborates with Indonesian filmmaker Kimo Stamboel as part of The Mo Brothers, is poised for global recognition following his agreement to direct “Nobody 2,” the sequel to Universal’s highly successful Bob Odenkirk-starring action movie. His other works include Netflix films such as “The Big 4” (2022), “May the Devil Take You” (2018) and “The Night Comes for Us” (2018), along with “May the Devil Take You Too,” which was released on Shudder in 2020.

As a member of the Mo Brothers duo, Tjahjanto was responsible for directing the 2014 neo-noir movie “Killers” and the 2016 action flick “Headshot”, which were both showcased at TIFF.
