Elon Musk Wins Lawsuit Claiming He Manipulated Dogecoin Price

As a seasoned researcher with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this ruling is a breath of fresh air. The dismissal of the lawsuit against Elon Musk and Tesla, concerning allegations of market manipulation and fraud regarding Dogecoin, seems just and fair to me, given the evidence presented.

In simpler terms, a court case against Elon Musk and his business Tesla, claiming they tricked investors by manipulating the digital currency Dogecoin, has been thrown out in court by a judge based in New York City.

In June 2023, a lawsuit was brought forth, alleging that Elon Musk and Tesla manipulated Dogecoin’s price through social media and publicity. The accusation is that they artificially inflated the value of Dogecoin by more than 36,000%. The plaintiffs claim that after this price increase, Musk sold his cryptocurrency holdings at a premium, leading to a subsequent drop in price that resulted in significant financial losses for investors.

They sought a total of $258 billion in compensation, arguing that Musk’s behavior was a form of illegal insider trading and market manipulation.

As per Reuters’ report, Judge Hellerstein’s verdict discarded the claims against Musk, explaining that his public statements regarding Dogecoin – such as touting it as a possible future currency and using humor – were not deceitful, but instead reflected his hopes for the cryptocurrency.

The court could not discover any evidence indicating that Elon Musk or Tesla engaged in market manipulation or unfair trading of Dogecoin.

The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, which means it cannot be brought back to court. The decision is a significant win for Musk and Tesla, who can now move on from this legal issue.

Musk’s lawyers expressed approval of the ruling, contending that Musk’s comments regarding Dogecoin were not intended to deceive anyone. Furthermore, they emphasized that no proof existed connecting Musk or Tesla with the claimed transactions.
