Brazil Bans X After Elon Musk Refuses to Comply With Supreme Court Order

In response to Elon Musk’s alleged non-compliance with orders to delete specific accounts perceived as threats to its democracy, the Brazilian Supreme Court has blocked access to X within the country.

Moraes set a deadline for Musk to assign a legal representative for X in Brazil, warning of potential restrictions. Once this deadline expired, as expected, access to the app (used by around 40 million Brazilians) was indeed blocked.

Individuals found to be utilizing a VPN to access X will face a daily penalty amounting to 50,000 reais (approximately $8,900 USD). Furthermore, the court mandated an immediate removal of X from all app stores within the country.
