As a seasoned movie lover with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that I find myself utterly bewildered by the latest Netflix sensation, “The Accident.” It seems that this series has managed to strike a peculiar chord among viewers – one that leaves many either rolling on the floor in laughter or tearing up in sorrow.
In recent days, a new Netflix series has been topping global charts, but its heartbreaking narrative about multiple child deaths in a harrowing accident has left some viewers chuckling uncontrollably. The story revolves around the aftermath of a tragic birthday party where three children lose their lives when a bouncy castle is swept away by strong winds. However, the excessive dramatic performances have prompted more laughter than empathy from many viewers.
“The Tragic Lift”
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’ve been expressing my thoughts on Twitter about “The Accident” on Netflix. In my opinion, the series is overly cheesy with a muddled storyline. The acting leaves much to be desired and the drama becomes progressively illogical. I wouldn’t recommend it to others.
The Accident’s Horrifying Subject Was No Laughing Matter for Some
Despite the exaggerated portrayal in the series, The Accident, it’s evident that its grave real-world implications have been largely disregarded by many. However, some viewers were not amused and swiftly pointed out that such a tragic event, which takes around 28 lives per year and injures hundreds, is neither a subject for humor nor trivialization.
@JaytheHealer33 expressed their feelings about the show, stating, “The Accident on Netflix is like an enormous energy drain. I was tears two episodes in. It’s gripping, but it’s hard to resist the emotional energy discharge. The story revolves around all the children in the community disappearing. Seeing parents crying in their kids’ rooms made me cry as well.” In response to another user finding it “objectively funny”, @medicinesoda said, “I truly hope a sad situation like this never becomes “objectively” amusing for me.”“
It appears that although no one finds joy in the concept of children perishing in a tragic accident, many viewers find the portrayal of caricature parents, excessive revenge plots, and a seemingly over-the-top narrative style in the show The Accident difficult to take seriously. Despite its current popularity on Netflix, surpassing shows like Jeff Goldblum’s Kaos, the newly released Terminator Zero, and matching the viewership of the fourth season of Emily in Paris globally, it seems that the show may not have been as successful if it had approached its storyline with the gravity it deserved given the serious subject matter.
