Wagner’s career gained significant momentum post “The Pink Panther”, particularly in the subsequent years. He landed roles in blockbuster films such as “The Towering Inferno”, and starred in numerous television series from the late ’60s to the mid ’80s. These TV shows encompassed “It Takes a Thief”, “Switch”, and a five-year stint on the ’80s mystery series “Hart to Hart”. Later, he appeared as a recurring character in shows like “Two and a Half Men” and “NCIS”.

Nowadays, Wagner is often discussed for his suspected role in the tragic drowning death of actress Natalie Wood, who was his wife at the time and they were in their second marriage. During a yacht voyage with Wagner, Wood, and a few other prominent individuals, including Christopher Walken, her body was discovered drowned. Bruises on her body sparked questions about her demise, and later reports revealed an argument between Wagner and Wood during the trip. As of 2022, the case remains unsolved.
