Mirzapur 3: Neha Sargam aka Saloni Bhabhi recalls how parents reacted to her role; 'Beta swachch kaam karna'

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for unraveling the lives of artists, I must say that Neha Sargam’s journey into the gritty world of Mirzapur is as captivating as the series itself. Her ability to navigate through challenging roles and maintain her personal values is truly commendable.

These days, Mirzapur is one of the highly-acclaimed series streaming online. The show boasts a talented ensemble of actors such as Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Tripathi, and Rasika Dugal in prominent roles. Additionally, performers like Divyenndu, Isha Talwar, Vikrant Massey, Vijay Varma, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and numerous others are also part of the cast. Neha Sargam, who played Saloni Bhabhi in the second and third seasons, recently shared memories about how her parents responded to her role in the Mirzapur series.

In my latest podcast episode, Digital Commentary, I fondly recalled sharing with my parents that I landed a role in the gripping series Mirzapur. As I prepared to sign on for Season 2, I couldn’t help but admit that I had already binge-watched the first season. I vividly remember the excitement I felt as I shared this incredible news about joining the Mirzapur family with my mom and dad.

In simpler terms, Neha Sargam remembered having a meeting with co-director Gurmmeet Singh and co-creator Puneet Krishna prior to taking on Mirzapur. She remembered that they were all sitting together during this meeting, and later, they informed her about the role she would play. The producers told Neha that her character’s storyline would be more developed in the third season.

“Maine bola ‘sir ek request hai, mere mummy papa ne bola hai ‘beta swachch kaam karna‘. (Sir I have a request, my mom and dad have asked me to pick clean roles). And they laughed…” she added.

Reflecting on those moments, Neha Sargam went on to mention that she chose to take on a ‘clean role’ in Season 2 after being persuaded to do so. The actress also noted that the producers were clever in their approach as they didn’t reveal any details about the events of Season 3 to her.

In the same interview, Neha Sargam shared her reservations regarding the intimate scenes in Mirzapur Season 3. She recounted meeting director Gurmmeet at his office for the part. The actress explained that she experienced a state similar to being in a coma after learning she would have to perform intimate scenes. Neha also mentioned that she was uncertain about the role and questioned if the producers were merely following their own instincts.

In the second and third runs of Mirzapur, Neha Sargam teamed up with Vijay Varma. Interestingly, Vijay enacted two roles: Bharat Tyagi and his twin brother Shatrughan Tyagi. Throughout the show, Neha was given the role of Bharat’s wife.
