A. Lange & Söhne's Piece-Unique Datograph Up/Down Will Be Heading to Auction in November

As a seasoned collector of horological masterpieces, I find myself captivated by the exquisite craftsmanship and noble intentions behind the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down “Hampton Court Edition.” The fusion of traditional elegance with contemporary flair in this piece-unique timepiece is nothing short of mesmerizing.

1. Not long ago, A. Lange & Söhne revealed a new Datograph Handwerkskunst during Watches & Wonders Shanghai. At the same time, they showcased another Datograph timepiece in Geneva, exclusively created for an upcoming Philips auction. Labeled as “Hampton Court Edition,” this one-of-a-kind Datograph Up/Down will be sold, with all earnings benefiting the Prince’s Trust charity.

This 41mm timepiece boasts a gray face, set within a casing made of 750 white gold. Accompanying it are black subdials and an engraved hinged cuvette, which is a unique blend not seen before from the brand. The dial’s features and decorations align with the model’s typical traits, including the oversized date display. A splash of color is introduced through the chronograph hand, painted in bold red that contrasts beautifully against the rest of the watch’s surface.

A locked, engraved compartment on the backside hides the case, which can be unlocked and lifted to unveil the L951.6 self-made mechanism within. The front side bears an engraving of “Concours of Elegance Hampton Court Palace 2024” along with a Pegasus outline.

A simple explanation for the term “CFS” could be sold in “BASIS,” herein “FAS”, respectively “TCS” or “PSS” can also be called as “SCS,” at the University of “UC” may be abbreviated as “ACFT.”
