Amar Kaushik, who gained initial acclaim with his 2018 directorial debut Stree, is currently enjoying the success of its sequel, Stree 2. This horror-comedy, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has sparked much conversation recently. In an exclusive chat with TopMob, he discussed several topics, including the possibility of Akshay Kumar’s role in the film potentially growing in future productions
During an interview with TopMob, Amar Kaushik was questioned about his intentions to broaden the scope of his film series, specifically focusing on Akshay Kumar who made a brief appearance in Stree 2. The post-credits scene suggested a more substantial part for Akshay in upcoming editions. In response, the director stated, “I don’t have any specific details to share at the moment. I haven’t discussed anything concrete with him yet. All I can say is that we’ve shared a basic concept with him.”

Additionally, he mentioned, “However, when we put pen to paper, his unique way of playing around as a character, whether it’s entertaining or not, who will portray him, and whether he has a background story or not, are all questions that will be answered once we begin writing.”
Amar Kaushik indicated that he would only approach Akshay Kumar for a project if the idea naturally emerges and not forced. He said, “If it arises naturally, I will definitely take it up and present it to him. If it doesn’t arise, I won’t proceed with it. So far, I haven’t even thought about it in this way. And if I did think about it, I wouldn’t discuss it. And if I didn’t think about it, I still wouldn’t talk about it. This is because the joy that comes after seeing a good idea is short-lived.” (If it happens spontaneously, I will definitely consider it and bring it forward. If it doesn’t happen naturally, I won’t pursue it. So far, I haven’t even contemplated it in this manner. And if I did contemplate it, I wouldn’t disclose it. And if I didn’t contemplate it, I still wouldn’t share it. This is because the excitement that comes from a good idea doesn’t last long.)
Working with Akshay Kumar in the film “Stree 2” felt like something predetermined, the director shared. Interestingly, Akshay improvised some playful, off-script moments within his scenes, adding a fun, unplanned touch to them
In other words, Stree 2 initiates the Maddock Supernatural Universe (MSU), which encompasses subsequent films like Bhediya and Munjya. Notably, Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, among others, give standout performances in this universe. In the film’s finale, Varun Dhawan makes a significant appearance as Bhediya, and Tamannaah Bhatia also features in a special role, while Akshay Kumar is part of the cast too
